There is a bit more to it than that. That is all I will say at the moment....Really? Seems to be they just commented out the line of code in the Camel web app that adds your address into the downloaded files - that info isn't required to be there anyway, they just chose to implement it that way in the past.
It doesn't seem to me that "they really went to a lot of trouble"...

Apparently, Apple aren't exhibiting there like it was suggested. They seem to be doing *something* there, but again, I highly doubt anything related to Camel would be announced, as there is no time to release a new, Camel-based product in the month before Namm.db3 wrote:i.e. in a few days.
See my last post in the poll thread about Apple making a Logic announcement.
And Apple aren't going to say "look at the cool people we have working on the following products coming out later in the year" or give any clues as to what they are currently working on - they will only talk about what has been released. And the Camel purchase, if that, won't have any bearing on any product or version they may be releasing.
Anyway, we'll see...

Ok, that's all I have seen so far. I don't know what other "secret info" you may have, or why you aren't willing to mention it.dnekm wrote:There is a bit more to it than that. I haven't installed the version I grabbed when this all started, but I have removed my personal info from my current installation anyway, without any issues, aside from my key files obviously.

New guesses:
(1) Apple bought "new re-synthesis technologies to allow sounds to be re-synthesised with much higher quality and to allow much more flexibility in how those sounds may be morphed and mutated". They've been paid $10M+VAT.
(2) Greenpeace dismantled CA headquarter.
(3) Things just end.
My guess: (3)

If this would be facebook, I'd give you a "like".Hunter wrote:Apart from beta testing and sound design I've not worked for camel audio since getting a 'real' job in 2007 or so, so I'm well out the loop too. I am still good friends with the guys though, which is why some of the comments here make me a bit sad, but hey it's the internet isn't it so it's easy to hide behind your screen and be nasty and make things up.lnikj wrote:
Hunter - I suspect you're the only person on this thread who knows the truth. You can help us all escape the cycle
All I can say is the guys are OK and didn't appear to be suited in gold and lighting cigars with £50 notes when I last saw them. Their business is their business, I can't discuss the details of my job with people either, that's just how companies work in the real world.
Also I'll just say that whilst its fun to speculate, accuse, discuss their finances, cashflows, addresses and so on, behind the company are a great bunch of really nice people who have worked an unhealthy amount over the years to build up this company and these great plugins, and keep it all going through the problems of recession, piracy, competition, etc, etc. I've watched camel audio grow from Ben in his bedroom making supercamelphat 2, to the company it is now, with I'm guessing something like 10 salaries to pay for, producing some of the most acclaimed and loved audio software around.
I know there is this utopian vision where you shouldn't have to pay for your plugins, and developers should be tucking you in at night for the rest of your lives, shouldn't dare to have the audacity to make a profitable business for themselves and so on, but it's easy to say that from the outside with no experience of being at the coal face. There are much easier ways for software developers to make a living than doing what companies like camel audio do, they choose to make audio plugins because they love it, and choose that over being another grey cog in the machine like the rest of us. It's definitely the harder, riskier option and one that I chose not to continue following. I don't think people have the right to judge and diss others with no understanding or experience of the situation.
Nevertheless, it bugs me to be kept in the dark. Whoever came up with the NDA doesn't have a clue about customer relations...

presets have the wartermarks removed too. i redownloaded some of them.dnekm wrote:That part has changed with the last installer. Like I said earlier, all of the personal info has been stripped out and replaced with place holder text. The only thing left in there is your name.
Except for the soundset key files, that still has all of your information.
But, Alchemy and your presets will still work even if you remove those key files from your Alchemy folder.
I have been testing things, they really went to a lot of trouble in an attempt to de-personalize this last release....

NDA means exactly what the abbreviation means
None Disclosure Agreement.
I know...some have a secret meaning that is more nuanced

Anyway, NDA and all that.
No probs. Should be a good summer
Am I the only one mystified by this little exhange? They seem smugly pleased with some sort of knowledge, and somehow I doubt they are talking about the likelyhood of blue skies in June.
That said, I still think it's a question of alien abduction. As everyone knows, aliens are notoriously bad at customer relations.
