The ability to keep a preset or sample folder open while auditioning sounds
would be a big help, whether a popup panel from within Fathom/NewSampler,
or by drag-drop/mouseclick(s) from a file manager gui. Seeing the names
in a large group helps me to remember the various combinations I've tried
.
Supporting external file-manager drag-drop would bring in everyone's
pre-established type of 'favorites' sorting,
and filename listing preferences.
Cheers

The sample browsing system is going to be slick in the extreme.
Not to show off but as a necessity for people like me with an entire hard drive full of samples.
I just spent the last week stepping through over 3000 snare samples looking for the perfect snare and sorting them all by category.
So trust me there is going to be some sort of one button press way to step through all your samples and preview each in real time, with assignable shortcut buttons to immediately send the sample to the correct category or table just to the right of it.
All sample lists will also have color coded in place category tags so you can label stuff without having fake it with blank samples.
There will also be some sort of way to automatically refer to them from their original location as well as resorting them to different folders internally or externally without losing the original link and without having to perform the steps every sample.
I'm also thinking of having an automatic preview mode where it will play two or three notes (or drum hits) for each sample and then automatically move on to the next one and then if you hear something you like you just hit the keep that one button. This will include automatic volume adjustment to save your ears as you step through samples with different amplitude levels.

So, where did you bury the imperfect drummersFathomSynth wrote: Sun Oct 28, 2018 11:36 pm I just spent the last week stepping through over 3000 snare samples looking for the perfect snare and sorting them all by category.
Does this mean Toontrack will be hiring soon?

Sort of a long story, working on a new EDM demo, a real song with a real singer and everything, but it needs an iconic snare.

In these two videos, the snares aren't necessarily
primary in the mix, but are what comes to my feeble mind
when trying to remember a snare from songs. ( I don't
listen to many songs) There's a kid with a snare in this one
at 1:24 seconds:
https://uploadstars.com/video/YX8AW27OOBS9
and later, other kids who couldn't let it alone...
entre' 26 seconds
.
In the end, I think it will be how the instrument is used that
will iconify it to you, more than just the sound data.
Artistry is such a happy grindhouse

Will these "windows" just modulate the levels of the partials directly or will there be functionality similar to image line's morphine where you can set different states for all the partials and morph between them?FathomSynth wrote: Wed Oct 17, 2018 12:11 am
All oscillators will have a full spectrum partials editor (similar to the additive spectrum oscillator) except that it will go up to 500 partials. The editor will have a window mode, such that a window can be defined across a range of partials and the partials within this frequency range can be modulated by any modulator.
Super exited for this update tho, can't wait to see this in action.

Five basic kinds of spectral morphing will be provided.
1. Assign individual modulators to the amplitude of any partial or groups of partials where the partials are selected and not necessarily consecutive.
2. Assign a modulator to the relative amplitude of a window of consecutive partials, or any number of such frequency windows.
3. Define a window of partials or a frequency range in which the amplitude values are frequency shifted from left to right or right to left according to any modulator such that the frequency spectrum is shifted in real time.
4. Assign a modulator to any collection of partials modulating the frequency of each individual partial so that they deviate from their tonal frequencies.
5. Same as existing wave table except each waveform is defined by the partials under a Bezier curve.

Local Man, Thanks.
Vertion, OK, It's on the list. I'm actually planning on making all effects dials so they can be modulated.
