Well, if you think so. Compared by a grid, it doesn't suit as well as 8ths. All other offbeat 8ths fall closer to straight 8ths. And it's exactly how I want it to be.Killvehicle wrote:Sascha, what do I know, but the second synth section sounded best(most swing) to me.
Help on understanding time signatures.

I think it would be more correct to say that "swing sometimes gets taught to the particulary dim by the particularly lazy as triplets with a hole in the middle".Hink wrote:so perhaps instead of swing=triplets, it could be said "swing can also be thought of as triplets without the middle note"...which as I see it can be an adaptation or another way of looking at it, but not exactly faking....correct me if I'm wrong though...tbh that definition would bring a little clarification to swing in a physical sense.
A bit like polos.

BY grid?? Maybe by this justification it is true, but I'm only going by ear and what sounds best to me, this is when I throw theory out the window. BTW to clarify I am speaking of the 1 and 3 of the triplet being played/Sascha Franck wrote:Well, if you think so. Compared by a grid, it doesn't suit as well as 8ths. I know which pattern you were speaking about. And I don't give a damn about grids either, just that in this case the grid comparison is backing up what I hear as well.Killvehicle wrote: BY grid?? okay, now for me the introduction of the changes on the the 2nd, 3rd and 4th parts is very static and throws off the groove...
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

I think it was meant to be, It was only showing different grooves that would stick out like a sore thumb, at least thats what I figure.Hink wrote:okay, now for me the introduction of the changes on the the 2nd, 3rd and 4th parts is very static and throws off the groove...

Yeah, exactly. I was just trying to show that neither triplets nor straight 8ths would fit. But, using 8ths I would at least be able to write a proper sheet.Killvehicle wrote: I think it was meant to be, It was only showing different grooves that would stick out like a sore thumb, at least thats what I figure.

If this is passion then I summise that you don't need passion in music.vurt wrote:Amberience wrote:Can I just ask one question - how is all this bickering helping music?

Despite, or maybe because of the elevated noise floor, there's more hard musical knowledge in this thread than in most of the rest of the place put together.Amberience wrote:If this is passion then I summise that you don't need passion in music.vurt wrote:Amberience wrote:Can I just ask one question - how is all this bickering helping music?

I can think of better ways of wasting time. You could hire a prossie, f**k her or him without a nodder, get aids, then waste lots and lots of your time fighting it.Killvehicle wrote:No, its called wasting time..Amberience wrote:If this is passion then I summise that you don't need passion in music.vurt wrote:Amberience wrote:Can I just ask one question - how is all this bickering helping music?

Or you could eat some pretzels.
Or you could play chess with yourself.
