Maybe the new features aren't interesting enough? Although I really like the audio to midi, mfl integrated is cool too but nothing new.ShawnG wrote:new product announced, not for sale yet. 3/4 of the posts are about upgrade pricing, and numbers changing on a web page, and not features of the software? sounds reasonable.

Automation in clips is kind of a big deal.

When I saw the Live 8 to Live 8 suite upgrade pricing with free upgrade to Live 9 suite, it was a brilliant price. Would move a large group of Live 8 users to the suite side for future more profitable upgrades. Then they hiked up the price $100 and this is no longer a no-brainer for most Live 8 users. What a missed opportunity.

I agree, who in their right mind (as long as they had the financial ability) would not have jumped on that!!!ksandvik wrote:When I saw the Live 8 to Live 8 suite upgrade pricing with free upgrade to Live 9 suite, it was a brilliant price. What, a missed opportunity to lose tons of money by selling at the wrong prices? I'm going to hike up a big greeny flob in a minute.ksandvik wrote:When I saw the Live 8 to Live 8 suite upgrade pricing with free upgrade to Live 9 suite, it was a brilliant price. According to your economical ideas a company makes more money on lower cost upgrades than higher cost upgrades over time even after they increase the customer base for higher cost upgrades... ho ho.masstronaut wrote:What, a missed opportunity to lose tons of money by selling at the wrong prices? As I said. It was brilliant. Now it's plain dumb.

So you are bitter that you did not get it cheaper cause they corrected the mistake too fast? That is comical...ksandvik wrote:Well, it's the principle. You don't do things like that, if you do a mistake you give a grace period and hike up the price after that. The whole Ableton Live 9 pricing scheme is a big mystery, mess and otherwise a moving target as we speak.pdxindy wrote: Gross exaggeration for the sole purpose of having something to whine about...
Sure it is kinda sloppy to post the wrong price, but you know what? Some people got it cheaper than they would have otherwise. In other words, some users made out well, nobody got screwed and Ableton lost money.
You haven't been wronged and have nothing to complain about...

I'm used to deal with SW companies that have a fixed price and not changing things all the time. Just now I could afford any kind of upgrade price but I don't know if it changes tomorrow, next week and so on. Same with anyone else, who knows what price they have next week, more mistakes, prices going down, going up?pdxindy wrote:

Most web site mistakes are comical prices like $19 instead of $199. Now the suite upgrade price was brilliant so me and many others didn't consider this a mistake, more like smart marketing from Ableton.
And they could have turned this lower upgrade price mistake to their advantage by a let's say one week grace time to upgrade. Instead they made it far worse PR-wise.

The idea that someone wouldn't be upset about a price change increase one day after is absurd. Ok, so maybe it was a boo boo, but why are people vehemently defending? The personal attack-oriented words being used to force a point by some proves inadequacies elsewhere. Funny, that stuff always sounds closer to whining than the person being accused of whining.
Seriously, it's ok for "so and so" to say something about what bothers THEM, but it's not ok for "such and such". Agree, disagree, but trying to put someone down because you DON'T agree looks worse than anything else.

It is the ridiculous exaggerations and outright misrepresentations that get frustrating to listen to page after page...
I wish there were a thread where those who want to talk all about how victimized they are by Ableton can do so and a thread for people who are interested to talk about Live 9... Oh well... at some point the later will show up...

I think it churlish at best for people to complain about a company correcting an obviously wrong price on a launch day
It was so obviously wrong that I would have been much better off downgrading to get a better overall upgrade price.
Live 8 standard owners are still getting a much better upgrade route than suite 8 owners
Approx numbers (in euros)
This year I bought live 8 suite boxed - 400 and M4L 200
My "best price" to suite 9 is 200
Total 800
If I had bought just live 8 standard d/l - 300
Yesterday's first actual upgrade price to suite 9 was 100
Total 400
New price upgrade after correction 200
Total 500
So you are still 300 better off by NOT buying suite 8 or M4L previously
All I want is my upgrade price to be reduced - at least to no more than 100 - then my upgrade route to suite 9 will be
Total 700
So please no more whinging from live 8 standard owners! You are still 300 up on the deal - not 400 due to the correction

Everyone here seems to be ignoring the statement made by Ableton on their forums.
"Existing Suite 8 owners will be offered an exclusive introductory discount on upgrades to Live 9 Suite, to be made available upon release. This introductory discount is not yet shown on the website, as Live 9 Suite is not yet available. We apologize for any confusion or frustration from our oversight in not making this discount clear on ableton.com, and ask for your patience as we iron out the kinks in our new site."
