Personally not sure of Logic X so far. In large projects I'm finding it hard to find tracks as it gets a bit mushed with a large number of tracks. Still can't send midi from one instrument to another which is a AU limitation I guess but in 2013 I find it hard to believe it cant do it. Midi plugins are good and welcome and need to figure out if I can send an Arp on 1 track to other tracks at the same time. To me Kyle the drummer and friends are very condesending and can go jump in a lake. I would have liked to see updated eq's and compressors and an updated exs24 but maybe they will come along later as a separate purchase. I like the track stacks and gain reduction meters in the mixer but not being able to have coloured and uncoloured tracks in the mixer is annoying as little as an issue that maybe it still helps me around a large mix and I find the tool bar very ugly and large and proceeded to hide it straight away. I'll have to use it more to decide wether to adopt it or I'll upgrade my Cubase artist 7 license. Feels more Garageband that Logic.

The sound libraries used to be really big (for ES2 and EXS24). Regarding the UI, does it allow to use independent (non docked) windows, like for example the score or the mixer? And what about the Environment? Was anything touched in there?
I'm not sure mate as i'm new to this daw anyways but i see George made a good post before.

No lol i have Studio One installed on the same Mac Lawrence. Yes if there's enough interest i may do a complete new library for the Logic instruments too.
No interest yet though it's early days.

day four and am finally starting to feel at home with X...and am happy (despite abandoning sylenth1...). loving track stacks, flexpitch. adapting to the new GUI, and it's good. easier to manage the main window...more things to turn off (or leave on) in channel strips. ease of adding fx, moving things around. new kits in ultrabeat. drum designer...midi fx...smart controls.

i think it's a winner. imperfect, but isn't everything? but a good move forward from L9...which i've gleefully deleted...

Looks quite "Apple" to me, very slick and slightly innovative and clever, the drummer thing.

It seems Apple has picked it's future direction with Logic and previous Logic users who don't like that direction ... well :shrug: ... the market is full of other really great choices. They certainly aren't going to put it back to Logic 9. :lol:

The fat lady has sung. I suspect for every person saying they're "jumping ship" there will be 5 new users plunking down $200 for it.

In the end, Apple always wins. :hihi:

I never used Logic before 2 months ago but i'm liking it that's for sure. I seem to get things done as i can in Studio One. No crash on exit, no connecting to servers on start up, say no more :-)

The rumor is they were gonna release it 2 years ago but they didn't want to collide with the release splash of Bitwig Studio, but they got tired of waiting and the Apple CEO said ...

seriously, the look is cool, am getting used to it. at first, i thought it was the meds...
i won't use drummer, i don't use apple loops (altho the new ones are cool...i deleted them all).

am still bumping into walls here and there...have to get used to the way everything looks.
but am finding my rhythm. i think, for any user, pro or not...it's a great DAW, the best it's been...

Anyway, at least we know Logic X is real now. Some people were starting to wonder. ;) Now we gotta get Studio One v3 off of the milk carton. :lol:

Back on topic. Logic X looks pretty great to me, as a music production tool.

OK, I keep seeing these ignorant remarks (and e.g., "GarageBand Pro") and it's making me facepalm to the point where I can't remain silent anymore. Somebody please explain to us how adding new features to a company's flagship DAW, a DAW that is widely considered one of the best in the industry, makes it more comparable to their free entry-level DAW.

When you install it will it makes use of all the presets and channel strips you've created already in L9? I have created a channel strip for all my most used plugins and Reaktor ensembles for example, I don't want to have to do that again. Also can I run it alongside the 32 bit version of L9?

Yes, Logic 9 channel strips are all recalled correctly. I think it uses the same folders.

I'm using Logic 9 32-bit and Logic X without problems here as well.
