Once again:
After July 7th 2015, the files will no longer be accessible from our site, and so you will need to have downloaded and backed up your files beforehand, as well as the Camel Audio Installer application (linked below).
I meant alchemy 2 :P

Maybe they will re-organise the complete webpage with the release of Alchemy 2 and all new libraries.
They delete maybe their data from the servers because they need more storage for new products.
They don't say the website is completely down but only "the files will no longer be accessible from our site"

I suspect the new MOSS act is the cause of this... Thank you so much, EU... we love you so much.

That's exactly what I was afraid of. Apple only Alchemy 2 :? Somehow some evidence points that way and I have a hunch.

You have many examples in the past when this happened (read APPLE and GIBSON, for example). So, we just can hope it's neither of these two.

I don't mean to be a smartarse..so please excuse it if this reads like I'm being just that..BUT..if the sound designers working on the sounds for Alchemy 2 have posted here, telling us in this thread they didn't even know about all of this and now can't log in..then doesn't that tell you something in itself?

Of course, a good company does support it's products and maintain them moving forward as it's good business to do so. But there is no legal obligation to users to update a product for any length of time. And sometimes, sh*t happens.
I think people have a legitimate reason to be concerned of. I'm glad that at least they were using fairly customer friendly copy protection so people who have bought all that stuff can continue to use their paid for plugins and libraries for a foreseeable future. That is as long as they have taken care to back up their installers.

It is another great example why one should not buy any plugins that have any form of restrictive and stupid copy protection that depend on any external authorization mechanisms. This debacle shows that even the very popular and well established developers can vanish overnight leaving their paying customers in the dark. Now imagine if CA plugins would need some kind of CR or iLok. Everyone would be royally screwed.

Absolutely not. Its already been pointed out several times that Camel's turnover and net worth was such that they'd already be VAT registered, and they're large enough to clearly have the resources to deal with MOSS.

MOSS affects tiny 'hobbyist' business who couldnt possibly afford the required legal and accounting services, not successful businesses with a net worth in the hundreds of thousands.

I dont. I cant see Ben knowingly doing something that would so clearly affect such a large number of Windows-based customers like that.

Just checked Linkedin and none of the Camel crew have altered their statuses to say they are working for Apple.

Any Macrumors follower will know this is usually the way people reveal their company has been taken over by Apple - presumably it's a way for them to by-pass any NDA or other gagging order.

I believe Apple PR also has a standard response which is code for "yes, we bought that company" when asked.
