Stix is not compatible with skinning at the moment. As for the GUI, a lot of people said it has improved a lot over the successive beta versions, and it's not finished. So we'll see when the final gui of v 1.0 will be released.bioroid wrote:You might want to consider user skinning. It may help resolve the issue with all the complaints about the GUI. I could image a library of skins (TR-x0x, etc) would add great value to users.Lotuzia wrote:No. Btw StiX has 3 GUI sizes, which should fit all kinda screens.bioroid wrote:Will it be user skinnable?

Hi Miller Sam,MillerSam wrote:Hey Lotuzia

Well it wasn't strictly speaking an ILok bug. ( Based on our current understanding of the problem, It was StiX midi Cc assignation file that caused the crash ). And yes, I think it's fixed now.
For people using v0.97, just delete the midi Cc assignation file, and then reinstall StiX v0.97D.
Or ( probably better ), just DL the freshly released V 0.98 wich -hopefully- fixes everything.
Note : I'll give the exact change log of Beta 0.98 tomorrow

i think the GUI looks much better than it did originally. the only "complaints" i might have is that i don't think the "vents" need to be curved outward at all (i think they'd be fine just flat across the surface), and the two "sunken" sections look pretty awkward. way too much shadow, i think they'd be fine just separated by dividers like the other "sectioned off" parts of the interface.
the vents aren't too bad as they are, but those "sunken" shadows just look silly.

Absolutely - the u-he range of plugins have quite an open skinning format (.txt file with an xml type structure, being able to utilise custom images, fonts and general placement of items) and as a result has a lot of really beautiful looking third party guis for their synths without the developer having to put in any extra effort !bioroid wrote:You might want to consider user skinning. +1 about the odd looking curvature on the fins...
Just bought this yesterday btw, largely due to your efforts here Lotuzia...
Also your presets are what finally convinced me that I would be able
to get the kinds of sounds out of it that I wanted.
For any soundfx designers out there, you should check this out. Due to the
way the sequencer works, its great for making mechanical soundfx as well as being
a drum machine...
-Cheers

Absolutely - the sound engine is absolutely spot on: been managing to get incredible Autechre-ish crunches and clunks and clonks from it. Love how wild you can gopekbro wrote:For any soundfx designers out there, you should check this out. Due to the

Well, I hope we'll get as fast as possible to the point where we will only have to decide between personal taste, ie past the time when the GUI/UI will be fully functional and with optimal ergonomy.
Personal taste : For example, I like the sunken sections ( maybe effect is a bit overdone, but it's ok for me), and I'm less fan of the sunken shadows of the vents. Obviously a 'GUI' cant please 100% everybody, so compromises will be done.
For strictly the GUI/UI, it's still a WIP, but I think it's much much better that the v0.95, and that we're getting closer to a final functional unit.

There will be more presets + sounds + drumkits + everything in the v1.0. With different approaches to make the sound palette even wider. And very probably approaches from different people than the humble me.
Yes, you can do a lot of rythmic/mechanical/robotized/less robotized/humanish things with the way the sequencer works. Here again, a lot is left to discover and invent

StiX Beta V 0.98 has been released.
Beta 0.98 Changes Log
Functions/Features
User Sample(s) Import : Import single or multiple .wav files is now working as expected. Single .wav file import is handled via the "wave menu" (of the Advanced Synthesis page), and Multiple files import via the ‘Wave Management’ function in the ‘Options’ menu (Option->Misc->Wave management). Also : You can listen to the sound via your OS browser before importing it.
Midi Cc Automation : Modulating each drumpad parameters independantly with Midi Cc is now working as expected (Channel 2 to 11 : Bass Drum, Snare …. to Misc. Channel 0 or 1 : Mixer, Effects, Gang Mode and all global parameters)
‘Reset’ function added in the Eazy Synthesis page ( will revert Eazy Synthesis macro parameters edits to neutral values ( Stretch, Global Pitch, Cut-Off and Rez offsets) ( Much quicker than resetting all the knobs values to default with soft keys )
GUI/UI changes
GUI : Eazy Synthesis Panel Updated and reorganised ( Still a lot of work to do, but closer )
GUI : Unit and companies logo added
GUI : Some Zones Backgrounds changed for a better visual feedback and sharpness
Sequencer Values display enhanced in the Single Line Sequencer view.
Fixes
Tempo Changes : Some *continuous tempo changes following* synchronization issues are fixed ( Not 100%, but better )
V097 Crash when installed over V096 issues are fixed (Midi Ccs assignation file read errors )( aka 'Ilok bug' -wich it wasn't )

Only a small issue I know (but one that I reported previously) .... the 0.9.8 iLok installer is still asking me for the location of my Syn-X folder

After de-selecting everything but the 64Bit VST plugin on the previous screen, why is it still asking for the location of the 32Bit plugin anyway ? Surely there's a way to skip this screen if you un-check the 32Bit plugin on the previous screen ?
But, and it's a big but ..... apart from the installer gripe, this is sounding and looking better and better
Keep it up - nice job guys

I think that's where the presets, data files etc. will go rather than specifically the VST .dll file. Both the 32 and 64 bit version of plugin will put files in that same place irrespective of which version you choose to install.
As an example with another plugin - The UVI workstation is available as 32bit and 64bit builds (usually installed in 'C:\Program Files (x86)\VST Plugins' and 'C:\Program Files\VST Plugins' respectively) but then there's another folder where you put all your soundbanks into and then you point both the 32bit and 64bit version of the plugin to that folder
