Synths like Absynth and FM8 can absolutely be regarded as being "done" - but on another hand, both synths carry such amazing possibilities that you could make them into some serious flagships
I was hoping for some "FM X" or "Absynth X" - mostly in terms of GUI, but also some extra modern features. For instance Ableton Operator is an FM synth which still benefits a lot from added analog-modeled filters. FM8 could get them as well.

Overall, there have been many great synths in terms of sound or feature set, but only since Serum developers know how a proper GUI should look like.

FM8 is one of the few plugins I have from NI. I don't think it needs much updating. Adding more features would make it just more bloated and complex. It is a complex synth anyway. And it sounds very good as it is.

Absynth I haven't used for a long time but I remember back in the days it had a pretty funky and ugly interface. Did not like it at all. So maybe it could do with some updates in this regard.

I think it's obvious NI wants to focus on three things: hardware, making everything Reaktor based, and more sound libraries. Only really exciting thing they have released on past couple of years is the Replika XT. Rest of the stuff has been pretty much bloat. And that's my main issue with NI - all they have been releasing is huge bloatware.

I wonder how the new global system will articulate with the ancient one. And what kind of users NI is now targetting/hunting. I hope they will not forget ancient users needs and desires, who made them grow in the first place.

New platform starting in 2020

Recognizing changing customer behaviors worldwide, the aim of focusing on a unified platform strategy is to create an expandable commercial and technological basis for future growth in the digital music production area. For that, a new platform is currently being developed with the goal of offering new ways of accessing the company’s core products and services, as well as complementary ones from third-parties. The centralized platform will also include the company’s expanded portfolio of loops and samples, which is currently part of sounds.com, and will launch in 2020. The company’s previous divisional structure, functional and brand silos, did not allow for a successful implementation of this strategy up until this point.

New platform = monthly subscription???
I wonder what happens if I press this button...

I always wondered about the size of that company. I mean Bitwig started with 4 and are now maybe 12 (rumour driven speculation) and still they pull out innovative quality per employee magnitudes higher than many others.
And as always you had to sponsor bitwig again in some way or other in a Native Instrument thread... this is my issue with some of these bitwig (representatives or getting paid for mention it in threads?) "users", not all of them.

People here are discussing the issues with the future of NI, this is not about bitwig and the $170 yearly fee for upgrades (overpriced), I'm not interested in your daw, I'm happy with mine and I don't need to pay crazy amount of money for upgrades.

I had to, you've done this before and I'm tired of that.

With all respect.

It could be. If so, I'll do one more Komplete update and then it's bye-bye for me.

I'm not sure, but I would say that the DJ market is not overlapping with the music market, and filling Komplete with lots of Maschine packages is not a good idea (I have them there collecting dust, since I have no use for them).

I would prefer the company splitting in two, one for the DJ market, and another for the music market, one developing Maschine and related products, and the other developing Kontakt, Reaktor, and related products, as well as updating and upgrading long due products like Avsynth and FM8.

"Unifying" what doesn't mix is like trying to blend water and olive oil...

Could be that NI are adopting the PA business model. Just mere speculation on my part there.

Oh yeah sure, because is not convenient for some entities to being confronted and called out about bad practices.

This was expected from you.

See, that's what i mean. You really don't have to. :) And it's not very respectful either.

Your choice.

That would have been the right solution...

Get the overpaid management and all of those funking experts who claim to be the future of sound and put them into a little rowboat and they can piss off into the sunset because the're not needed...

Then get the smart minds together and give them a bigger rowboat (because we all know that they deserve it ) and they can get back to coding and doing all of the real work...

The guys in the advertising are fired and anyone who was on the Massive X team can spend their time writing beta code, reading philosophy and generally doing some unpaid soul searching....

See...how hard was that ?

Sorted :tu:

Well, that's apart from the millions that they still owe the private equity company

Can you check who's that knocking at the door ?
