I'm in the same boat as Bombadil, some old cassettes are the only remaining trace of a band I was in as a teen in the 80's. I haven't had a chance to sit down and remix, but Logic did by far the best recently after I tried last year stem separation algorithms free and paid. Guitar was an important innovation here, but the early versions even as of last year were awful. For my needs so far Logics algorithms are the best. Live 12 stem separation is lagging here with only "melody" and no guitar etc.apoclypse wrote: Wed Nov 05, 2025 5:43 pmI've tried a few stem separation and imo Logic's sounds really nice and it separates more elements than a few of them too. Very slick stuff for sure.Bombadil wrote: Wed Nov 05, 2025 1:58 am One of the coolest features, imo, is the stem splitter. I’ve taken 35-40 year-old cassette original recordings, made with almost no fx, and split them. The 2.2 version is an improvement over the 2.0 version. Then, by applying judicious use of compression, delay and reverb, I’ve brought those old recordings to life (I transferred them to digital around 15 years ago). The ability to pull a mixed song apart like that is voodoo, imo.

Huh? You can still change that in your preferences. I'm using the right mouse button for a second tool all the time (and CMD-click for a third).machinesworking wrote: Tue Nov 04, 2025 3:57 pm Logics replacement of the simple commands for changing tools, and the ability to assign right click to zooming is a huge let down though. I get why right click became contextual menus, but the tools being two shortcuts away is just wrong!![]()
