Ok sickle. To sum it up quickly, basically 80% of the stuff found in the "Special" catagory of the Reaktor User Library.

Here is a story to elaborate... I was at Tower Records downtown Chicago last week, they have a fairly large selection of ambient stuff. This Tower Records is kinda cool cause you can open up the CDs and listen to them before you buy. So I grabbed a few to preview and I heard presets right out of such ensembles as metaphsycial function. I was thinking... WTF? There was another song on there which was just a simple pad and the ensemble "indigestion" playin out.

firstly the list of artists you cite as being ambient are trance,they make a subgenre of trance called ambient trance.other than the word ambient the connection between them and the music that actually comes under the blanket term ambient is non existant.
i hate the idea of genres for this reason,so normally i would say good or bad music,but i suppose ambient fits as good as pop does so ill take it.
as for the rest you have ignored any attepts at trying to expand the horizons of what you falsely beleive is ambient so i cannot help further especially as now i cant be arsed.

Naa I wasN'T (EDIT) telling you to butt out and thankful that you lightened up this thread early on. You stated there was hundreds of these generators out there... I'd kinda like to know which ones of these are common. Instead of spending damn long time googling, i'd like to know specific ones Markelford was talking about.

Well, I agree, that's f**king pitifull..And it's a real shame that record execs aren't aware of what's going on there, but that brings me back to an observation I made several pages back:

What the hell does this have to do with KvR members' uploads?! Why are you making the assumption that we're doing stuff like that? I tear the guts out of ensembles making my own, combining macros, removing macros, adding functions, etc, etc..I don't know anyone here who uploads stuff that's rendered straight from any presets..

Your initial thread insinuated & basicaly accused KvR Cafe contributers of doing that exact thing..
