Thanks very much for that detailed review, Barnadine.Barnadine wrote:AndreasE/Dance of the Animals - I'm starting to think of your songs as boat rides - some constant element carries us along while all sorts of strange scenery goes by. You wave the possibility of novelty barnyard song at us to start with, but shift into the first main waltz before patience fails. The theme is always fluctuating, never quite finding a final form it's happy with. The distorted tunnel section at 0:42 is the most sonically pleasing to my ears, very nice. The solo section starting around 1:00 seems prolonged; attention starts to wander despite the tempo fluctuations. And the shifts into and out of the animal sections are sometimes a little awkward. But there's a disneyland-gone-toxic feel to it all that makes me smile.

At the risk of disrupting actual talk about music, here is a recent PM discussion, echoed per request:
As such, I am omitting her entry from my contest listing, which I believe is for the benefit of honest, fair-minded contestants who abide by the rules and spirit of the thing.
Note that this text has appeared on the listing page for nearly three years, shortly after its creation:
And please, let's not make a big stink of this! Please continue talking about all the other music that has been submitted in good-faith.

Please add my submission to the July contest in the order that it was submitted. It seems I was somehow overlooked.
Markleford wrote:It was not everlooked.
There is a preponderance of evidence (no matter how circumstantial) that you entered a previously recorded track.
As per the last line of the top paragraph of my listing page (as it's been for years), I reserve the right to omit tracks that I think flagrantly break the rules. I've only had to do this a few times, but the text remains specifically for this explanatory purpose.

Lady J wrote:You better post that in the gossip thread then. That you are omitting tracks from your radio should be common knowledge.
As such, so that it's "common knowledge", I am openly announcing that I believe there is sufficient evidence to claim that Lady J violated both the guidelines and spirit of this contest. Nor does she argue that this is not the truth, for what that might be worth.Markleford wrote:I believe it already is common knowledge: entries do slip by me on occasion and I'm quickly corrected by listeners, but nobody has contacted me about missing yours yet.
But I'll give it a mention to make it clear.

In other news...
Damn but I'm pressed for time on my entry, considering I'm losing the next two weekends to prior commitments! It's all sketched out now, but recording "real instruments" always takes me forever...

Comments- Part 1.
Quick comments, not actual reviews. There are a lot of entries that I like this month. The most I have ever liked so far in a comp entry, and I still have many to listen to.. that's some crazy stuff..
JamesB- Very nice groove. I really like the part at 1:17 a lot ( wah part ). Too bad the drums aren’t louder, and bassier. I like the laid back, yet head bumping vibe. I’m shaking my head, but I don’t have the urge to get on the dancefloor J I can definitely picture people dancing to this though.
Wopelka:. I really like your choice of instruments, but I am not feeling what you did with them as far as dancing is concerned. It would be a great bit for a movie along the lines of “Delicatessen”. A movie with Weirdness, chaos… Good job though.
RichieBee-Dance to this: Perfect for this month’s theme. Very good. As a bonus, I’d love to hear it mixed in with a House beat.
Liqih: It is danceable. It’s a good start to something but it feels incomplete. Could be in the next episode of Inspector Gadget, with him shaking his booty to the beat… I like it.
Armadillo: Panther. Definitely danceable. Great production. I really like the intro a lot. Vocals seem a bit too loud ( but not the speaking part ). Is that you singing? I like it.
Multree: You belong to me. Really good song. Danceable. Whhaaaaaaattttt? Only 1 minute long? Why? Hey are those drums BFD?
Tristeza Orange: I really like the organ melodies a lot. The “?harpsichord?” sound. In all it’s weirdness, I find it catchy. Too bad there is no bass on it.
Damstraversaz: Pepe va au bal.. yup it’s danceable. Good job.
Scuzzphut: Screamer. Definitely danceable. I really like the first part, am not crazy about the other synth line that comes in afterwards for a couple measures. Then, it gets really good again before that synth comes back in. Very nice work.
Farlukar: I am not a fan of distortion, and it seemed you really went for it on this one ( on the overall mix). I think I would have enjoyed a cleaner version better, but other than that great work. Definitely danceable.c
Hovmod: last fairwell tango. Sounds good. More laid back than other entries, but there is slow dancing. I enjoyed it.
Shuzhen:Epic Shapes Ellapse: Very nice. Simple but effective. It makes me want to dance.
Katanaman: Dance with moi. I like what you did here, and the sounds you used.
Patrick9: Konversation. It gets better when the synth kicks in, but it’s too much distorted madness for my taste J
Kaos Axiom: DanceXT. Broken link.
Ja.x: Toast Yourself.. Not bad, not great. A little monotonous.
Rockstar_Not: I like your entry. Funky synth pop. Nice.
Bitcrusher: My first Guru. Nice one man. I like it. Those are some cool non drumish sounds.as well. I haven’t come across them yet in GURU. Much more to explore.
Knockman: Wildchurch. I like it in a weird way.
Andreas E: Dance of the animals. Could be a good circus song. Haha.. the speeding/up slowing down is a nice touch.
Aldred: twinkletoes. Sparkling production. Could be great in a movie. Only 1:04? Why??
Astanine: Halothane: It’s good. I like it. Makes me in a happy mood. Why only 1:35? Grrr..
Wilkoryte: Slow dance. Nice one. Makes me relaxed.
