I do want to know I can still get Windows updates while using the great products I already own.
I don't even care about that... my music laptop has only one purpose, and Windows updates aren't needed for that. :)
Ok, so no Windows updates ever apply to what you have installed? They aren't all based on security.

I'm just saying that an 'instrument' doesn't need much. Anyone can still sequence using an Atari & Cubase (but no Alchemy on that :D ).

Windows 7 sp1, that's all. Why install updates if everything works fine?

Indeed. In an infinite multiverse the world just ended. And then again. And again...
You need to limit that rez, bro.

It's sad, but you can still use it.

One good thing is Windows 8 is still supported till 2023

While it's true that Alchemy can still be used even in 2023 and further, one must consider when a product ends to be updated, it does not become "vintage" since discontinued, but just "obsolete" within a year or two. See many examples (B4, Intakt, Pro53, Albino, Plex, D'cota, X-phraze, Re-birth, Atmosphere, Cool Edit, Peak etc.).

This argument makes no sense at all. Please explain how Alchemy will be "obsolete" is a year or two?

I still use Atmosphere when I make music.... It is not obsolete. Spectrasonics may like you to believe that, however....

Sorry to go off topic, but the point is this - it will still work for you, so lack of support or re-sale value does not come into the equation here. As long as Alchemy loads and works, it will be a treasured instrument.

It will be obsolete when you have to upgrade your computer and operating system and it can't install on the new machine. If your old machine is biting dust...so is Alchemy.

That said, Alchemy will work just fine until then, so I'm enjoying it while I still can. I'll be having to upgrade my computer soon (this one is in the beginning stages of death...), so unfortunately, Alchemy has a very clear end-of-the-line for me.

I did not tell "you cannot use it", infact I confirm one can play it even in 2023 and beyond. But I can see well how all discontinued software products become "obsolete" very soon. That is the main reason why so many people are going to sell their copy of Alchemy now: they know well in a year or two nobody want to buy it. The same for the above mentioned products (Intakt, B4, Peak etc.). These discontinued synths (and software in general) never become "vintage" (as in "hardware vintage": moog, roland etc.). On the contrary, they lose value (usually becoming free in a year or two). This has nothing to do with sound quality, of course. I guess it has more to do with "out of fashion" outdated GUI, lack of support in case of issues, possible incompatibilities when new OS come out... etc.

Status check here . check Yosemite Good . check Windows7 good , backup USB stick good ... Stuff installs offline ..check . I'm now officially ready for July 7th ........I still find this all hard to believe . I sure hope the Camel guys made it rich and not dealing with hard times .

I could see potential problems with windows 10 but anything before that will be fine. I plan on using 7 till they stop supporting it; even if I get a new computer. So for me I will be using it a lot longer than 1 or 2 years.

... me too! It's the next "even" Windows iteration (why did they have to skip V9?!?!? :( ), so it'll be poop. :clown:  :D :P

EDIT: I'm on 7 as well.

AFAIK Alchemy becomes NFR after the first transfer.
Ben H wrote:The sound banks do... but Alchemy does not.
Although I'm not sure if they are letting this point slide at the moment, since the company is winding/wound up.
Does anyone know exactly how it works? I bought Alchemy 2nd hand some years ago, it came with three sound banks (Dubstep, JunkieXL and Planet Earth). Later I bought Water and Camelspace from CA.
As far as I understand, I am allowed to sell Alchemy, Water and Camelspace, but not the three sound banks? This means I must throw them away in case I sell Alchemy, right?

What if I sell my complete account (serials, data email) to another one? Is it legal?
