Id like to be making a living from music in 5 years time. Be it engineering records, producing and releasing my own, selling my presets or samples, producing music and sound design for media, performing, teaching...
Or all or the above.
I think this is a realistic goal. I dont aspire to be rich and famous, just to be able to do what I love and get by.

It is true, but when an interviewer asks that even though it's one of those trick questions I actually gain respect for him. It's not always the answer you give that he's looking for, it's how you answer it that they are looking at. If you are struggling to come up with an answer that is a red flag...hint...have your reply ready, answer with confidence and pride.wrench45us wrote:this is one of those awful questions they ask in job interviews

Once (and I didn't accept the job, I had like four offers on the table) in an interview I was asked to tell him about the best boss/manager (it was a music store) I had worked for...and the same for the worst...what a productive question...I was impressed, sadly I chose a different store that turned me off retail after a couple years.
The reason I turned them down was "cold calling", calling old customers on the phone to try and get them back in. I'm sorry, I hate being called, I can't be on the other end..
Ironically I have done business with this chain since I was 22 (24 years), it's a local chain tuz might know them..."Music Mall"...I have never gotten a call from them...
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

I'd like to do be doing anything other than sitting in an office filing paperwork whilst at the same time wishing I were at home slashing my wrists.

5 years from now I'd like to get a nice small studio up and running where I can bring in local bands on the weekends and record them on the cheap, while at the same time having them walk away happy about what they did with me.
I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.
