Who owns and runs NSS tho' ? Is it independent or is it owned and run by those developers we have just mentioned ?

You may have heard that, but it's not true. Though with the EWQL pull-out he may be paying quite a large portion of NSS's income!

Surely, every developer should run independent support sites/forums for their products. Given that free forums are two a penny today, this can't be too much of a problem ?

Interestingly, I typically say that devs *should* run their own forums, but KVR has quite a stable of indy developers, and I can't complain about how well it's working here.

But for some reason there's just so much nastiness in the whole orchestral samples game. I suspect that much of it comes from particularly fanatic users that refuse to get along with users of other vendors libraries. And part of it was ill-will towards Garritan for lowering the price of decent sounding libraries, presumably "undercutting" a large-margin industry for the sake of the average user.

At the end of it all, I just felt that NSS were being unfair to a small developer, who has more experience than the lot of them put together, and is well respected in the industry all over the world.

Well, that's sort of the point to me: Hollow Sun will get through this on its own reputation, and NSS has absolutely no power to stop this.

Damn right and hats off to ya !!! KvR is the exception to the rule and should be lauded in that respect.

Yes, it does seem that particular genre of sample library has a very vociferous support base. I guess it's like any other form of brand loyalty, you pay hundreds of pounds for something then feel an uncontrollable urge to defend your choice !

What Garritan did with GPO was worthy of praise, bringing affordable, quality material to the masses and obviously upsetting the rest of the "bloatware" developers. For that he deserves props.

I remember my first encounter with Steve and we have been friends ever since. I have done whatever I can to help him as he has helped me in many ways, and I feel honoured to call him a friend. He's one of the good guys and his skills and talent will always win through. He has many ventures on the go at the moment and these are testament to the high esteem and regard in which he is held the world over.

I won't make the mistake of buying from EW again.

I figured it out by reading Markleford's post. EW needs to fix the link in the instruments that still send you to the NSS forum.
