Haydn, up to now I had respect for you even if we sometimes diagree - but to come here and start a name-calling like this in a topic which actually even doesn't concearn you is so low that I have no words words for it other than 'shame on you'! :-(

Be convinced that you'll never earn that respect again so there's no need to care for your words in the future - just call me like you want - it won't touch me anyway! ;-)

to be perfectly frank, jens, i wouldn't have snapped at you if you hadn't acted like such a spoiled baby, and my respect for you has been waning to say the least. i'm amazed when i read your posts that you can come to such conclusions. whatever.
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

Well - I can't really tell others what to think or criticize some of the respected minds over here so here's my take on the Voxengo development/marketing process.

It seems to me that over time Voxengo has experimented with a broad range of dsp tools and effects. At any one point in time there always seems to be some type of new development alongside support that is IMO second to none in the business - and there is a lot or really good support out here!

So my simple thought is just that once Voxengo reaches a milestone in design, development, and implementation I don't mind purchasing it if the price is right and if I like the sound or idea - [a really important piece here] because I believe that if it is at all humanly possible the VST plugin developed by Voxengo will have the best implementation possible for that concept and design - it will also have any and all possible customer ideas and requests [free of charge!] that will fit the concept. If a particular concept is full or has reached its' logical conclusion then I don't mind picking up on the next plugin in many cases - assuming the sound and price is right, which usually seems to be the case.

This all sounds like rah rah stuff - I guess it is then! :D

...From a satisfied customer.

I bought the AF Suite, and had a similar annoyance level when the Vintage Modulator came out (which I have resisted buying). I have a similar annoyance with Kjaerhus, because he hasn't added Side Chain to his "flagship" compressor. Both of these guys are stooping to low tricks to force their loyal first-adopter customers into buy other versions they don't really want. That sucks, and they should reconsider their marketing strategy. I for one am very wary of buying their products when first offered - wheras in the past I jumped in, thinking it would be the best deal.

I don't think either Voxengo or Kjaerhus are evil. I respect their need to make some money. I still use and recommend their products. Just not so enthusiastically as before. Think of it this way: both these guys give us some good freebies. If they try to screw us in other ways, just consider it payment for services rendered.

This sort of thing does make you search harder for better products. You might be interested in the Ag-works Chorus - it's a GUI-less freebie that is fantastic.

Greendoor, I thank you so much for expressing a voice of understanding! That's very brave of you! :-D :hail:

(while we're talking about respect)

Voxengo and Kjaerhus are just single person devs- let them flesh out their line, then mebbe they can start adding features that users may or may not want.

me too - I never called any names in this thread - I merely complained about a certain situation! ;-) :-)

Stooping to low tricks? what are you guys? homeless bums? Every cleaning lady would be able to buy a darn 30 buck product if she needs it. You really oughta use protools, maybe then you learn what it means to be stuck with incompatible equipment.

You must have some mental condition, what do you do when you buy a car and they release a new model just after? Sue the manufacturer?

Get a grip, and a life. There's people with real life problems to deal with, and you c**ts can't stop whining that there's a bigger product available than the one you have, and that you'd have to pay for it.
This isn't about justice, justice is when you work for the money and then spend the money for something you want. Are you aware that that chorus owns the UAD CE1, and are you aware of the price difference? Are you aware that this is what Aleksey does for a living, and thats why he charges money for his products, and are you aware that for basically all his products you won't find anything better in the native area no matter HOW much money you are prepared to pay?

Some people seriously live in their own fantasy worlds

The thing about hardware is that the design is perfected before the unit is sold, and you buy it and enjoy it as long as you want.

The thing about software is that developers (copying Microsoft etc) have got into this lazy/greedy habit of releasing products before they are ready, and expecting their customers to perform the final beta testing. Also (because of Microsoft etc), platforms are constantly changing. So when I buy a piece of software, I am very aware that I am buying into an upgrade path (as much as I hate that necessary evil).

That's why I am very, very angry when a software developer pulls the plug on an upgrade path that I have invested into. This is why I hate Emagic/Apple - they have screwed me out of $2000, no question about it.

A happy customer will tell their friends about a good vendor. A ripped-off customer wants to tell the world.

Yes they do.

Replacing a full PT mix system to support the new software versions costs about 10 times what apple 'screwed you out of'.

The Analogflux chorus works perfectly well btw. And seeing as there are 5 plugins in that 80 USD bundle, that means the chorus did cost 16 USD.
Now voxengo releases a modulator plugin for 30 bucks. And you say that you are being ripped off?

You two have lost *any* sense for reality.
