For what it's worth, the GUI opening is not an adequate test. Cyclone (which was host-locked to Sonar 2 - it may or may not be host-locked in its current incarnation) would open in FLStudio, for example, but it wouldn't create any sound.bnmoore wrote:
The V-Vocal opens in hosts that support DX plugins. In my case the GUI was larger than the host I tried it in (Audition). It's listed as Cronus. FWIW I thought this one was supposed to be locked to Cakwalk products.
This article speaks of how the GrooveSynth didn't work in Sonar (it disrupted the sound when inserted) when it first came out. This has since changed for Sonar - and in fact S5P comes with the GrooveSynth. I suspect it's still locked to Cakewalk products.
I believe a more definitive list is in one of the other Sonar5 threads.

Cyclone works just fine for me in any host I use it...dougsyo wrote:For what it's worth, the GUI opening is not an adequate test. Hmm... I didn't know eXT did DXI instruments or that Cyclone is now a VSTI (I mostly use Dicer or MicroDicer now, so haven't loaded Cyclone for months). It's good to hear that it's no longer host-locked.jens wrote:Cyclone works just fine for me in any host I use it...dougsyo wrote:For what it's worth, the GUI opening is not an adequate test. Nope ears are one of the most fragile things you have, Its no secret that everyone has either a better or slightly less grade of hearing, Being a musician for 15 years has taught me to save my ears and use ear plugs when your expecting loud sounds ie Concerts, Construction work, Airports, even casual home listining can and is probley the most damaging thing you can do, heck you hardley ever see programs warning you about high decible noises that are about to deficate you, but if you do a little research youll find the inner ear drum is micro thin and very prone to damage even at young ages that almost no one recovers from.bduffy wrote:Not to seem adversarial (I was looking forward to hearing this improvement!), but I just tried an A/B comparison between SONAR 5 and a 32-bit host running the same composition and I can't hear a lick of difference between the two! You guys must have "Golden Ears" or something...womoma wrote:The sound quality improvement is so great in Sonar 5 that you dont need "good ears" to spot it. It simply sounds fantastic.
Im not saying your deaf er IM NOT SAYING YOUR DEAF but if you cant hear the obvious sound difference in Sonar5 by A/B testing then im afraid your ears may be damaged, prob too many britney concerts or dare I say Ahsley shreek.
And theres no treatment to regain hearing loss other than seeking out a beltone hearing aid.
That means no I-Pod for me heh, before you come on defending the I-Pod even the goverment has warned that millions of ppl are ruining there ears with them.

well, as I have already mentioned I use Console - that way I can load DXI into vst-hosts...dougsyo wrote:Hmm... I couldn't get to the V-Vocal controls in another host to see if it actually worked because of the GUI size. It's smaller inside of SONAR. The other specific plugins mentioned were tried and returned positive results. With the Pentagon I copied the .dll to my VST folder after backing up the original and it loaded and played fine. René mentioned that the 64 bit version was DXi only in the rgc:audio forum. The new .dll file reports a newer version number. I'm running the 32bit.For what it's worth, the GUI opening is not an adequate test. Cyclone (which was host-locked to Sonar 2 - it may or may not be host-locked in its current incarnation) would open in FLStudio, for example, but it wouldn't create any sound.
The patch was on the Kinetic support page a while back for SONAR use. It doesn't work in Forte Ensemble, I haven't tried it in FLStudio. It still seems to be locked to Cakewalk products at least for me.This article speaks of how the GrooveSynth didn't work in Sonar (it disrupted the sound when inserted) when it first came out. This has since changed for Sonar - and in fact S5P comes with the GrooveSynth. I suspect it's still locked to Cakewalk products.
I posted one myself on the Brainspawn forum but a few of them were Project 5 synths. The dspfx plugins have been exclusive since their first inclusion with any Cakewalk product. There could very well be more. There are things I never use that I've never attempted.I believe a more definitive list is in one of the other Sonar5 threads.

Only because they're jamming up the volume to drown out background noise. You shouldn't do that regardless of what device you're listening to.That means no I-Pod for me heh, before you come on defending the I-Pod even the goverment has warned that millions of ppl are ruining there ears with them.
