Hi David,
Have I told you today that I absolutely LOVE this EQ? Thanx a lot for giving it away for free.
Having a buffer bigger than 2048 samples and dialing in a filter from inactive to anything else crashes Nuendo.
Working with 2048 samples buffer is OK until I try to dial in quality 5. When I switch the EQ off and on several times I've got an CPU over.
All the best, FRitz

Hi david.
I think your code has a bit of trouble with samplerate changes. I think that's the biggest issue with wavelab.
You see, you can have multiple audio files open wavelab and they can be of any samplerate. When you start audio playback it changes the samplerate of the plugin to correspond the audiofile that's being played.
I think you might need to work on the way the samplerate changes are initialised within your plugin. I suppose that means you have to re-initialise and clean up the internal buffers of the plugin everytime a samplerate change is detected.
Just a thought, but I don't actually have any idea of the internal architecture of PLpar.

Ah yes,
that reminds me of all the crashes I had when changing the buffer size when the EQ is loaded.
Best wishes, FRitz
P.S. Kingston: I like you're guys new signature.

again, how in the world can you have a P3 at 3ghz??? it has to be massively overclocked to even go so high, as the top speed of the P3 never reached above 1300mhz. Rightdbmcclain wrote:Everything seems okay so far...
Configuration here:
P III 3 GHz + 2 GB RAM
MOTO 2408mk3
ASIO drivers in T2, Sonar 5 Pro with 128 byte buffers at 44.1 kHz.

And now off to see whether my hosts crash with the 4 band version...

All I know is the "hoax" is getting better and better every day...
Many thanks to David and staff. I hope it's becoming evident this was not a tease (and certainly not a scam of some kind) and he is busily trying to hash out where the problems are coming from, which were not encountered in their in-house testing. Just goes to show that once software gets unleashed on the world, very strange and unexpected things can happen. Happens to the best of them.
Again, much gratitude to Refined Audiometrics. I think I speak for many people (and many more to come in the future) when I say that.

Anyways, the 4band one is crashing WaveLab (still on v3) like mad on a lot of occasions (btw, anybody with an idea why WL3 wouldn't see EnergyXTE?).
In EXT it's working fine.
However, you may find it interesting to know that the host giving BY FAR the least problems is what you might call "antique"... yeah , you guessed right, I'm talking about Logic.
I can switch between quality settings while it's running (up until 4 and no crackles with one band), no problem. Not a single crash yet either.
Too bad it doesn't bounce offline...
Anyways, these are indeed some nice sounding EQs, hope you'll get the crashes sorted out.

Oh heck, I was hyping Logic too early...
It just crashed when I tried to unload the 4band version.
Unfortunately all those crashes are really hard crashes - DrWatson doesn't spill out any logs, otherwise I would've sent one in.

Yeah, this plugin seems to crash mostly when unloading a plugin, well, at least on this old laptop running FL Studio latest version. Gotta try it in energyXT some more.
Cheers!

Strange,
in Nuendo I wasn't able to unload the 1 band plugin without a crash. With the newer versions I can unload the plugins but can't reload saved songs which contain the eq. It simply crashes Nuendo.
But the EQ sounds sooooo good that I want to ... but lets see when it's stable.
Best wishes, FRitz

Okay everyone... this was a massive effort but I really think I have it nailed now. Version 1.15 at my site.
I have been able to run 2 instances of PLParEQ1 at Quality level 5 in Cubase SL 1.06 (ancient) and it only shows about 50% loading on my system.
So in addition to bulletproofing, we also have a massive speedup. And I'm talking about both of them running level 5 with no dropouts during live playback!

I encountered another problem as well. These plugins do not report their latencies to the host. Right now audio gets delayed by a fair bit, like 200ms (whatever that is in samples) on q4.
That's an extremely simple feature to implement (in its basic form anyway), so please consider doing so.

Just tried version 1.15 of PLParEQ1 on this crappy p3 laptop and it seems to be working but uses much more CPU now than the older versions. I was able to only run quality setting 2 now whereas I was able to run Q3 easily on the old versions. I'll test some more on my main system tomorrow.
Cheers!

That must be something else that's malfunctioning because I didn't get that problem in Tracktion 2. Sync up was fine between a track with PLPara 1 and one without. I haven't tried today's version(s) though.Kingston wrote:I encountered another problem as well. These plugins do not report their latencies to the host.
