Russolo would define 'bird song' as a type of noise but what if the bird inadvertantly starts singing the guitar solo from Hotel California - Does the noise suddenly become music?

If mockingbirds imitate cellphones and car alarms, surely they would imitate The Eagles (no, not those eagles, the other ones) if played often enough in their vicinity.

Okay. It was a bad example (besides you'd need two birds).
I'm just trying to understand the difference between noise and music.

there is no difference except noise is the emotions but without the restrictions of music theory

I would define it differently... noise is more like music, stripped of all expectations and norms.

Hmmm? Sounds like hippy talk to me.
I think the original futurist noise makers were more concerned about the 'church' dictating how music should be played.
Personally, I think ignoring theory is far more restrictive.

its not about ignoring theory,i never said that,i just said it doesnt allow itself to be restricted by theory.
as i dont beleive in any church i cant exactly rebel against them.

Exactly!

(Though recently there seems to be a sort of developing conformist element in certain noise communities (particularly on this continent). The 'PLZ what pedals U use 4 noize' threads on certain forums remind me a little of the 'PLZ WHAT SYNTHS 4 TARNC3' threads here.)

I have a compilation CD of some of his 80s stuff, came in a little red sleevelet, may have even been a sampler of merzbox things.

That's the Merzbox sampler - not the greatest material on that one, unfortunately.
