No such thing as perfect safety, just use your brain, research anything before spending money, and ALWAYS wear a helmet! With caution and a little due diligence you can avoid 99.8% of the scams out there.

One safeguard is that this is only a small market, scammers would probably want a huge general market-more potential for making $$$
if I rember right one of the larger group buys at one point meant close to if not over 20k...I hardly consider that a small take...100 people get in on a group buy and the final price is 100 bux...that's 10k alone... :)

Sure, we're vulnerable. Maybe not us specifically, but it's safe to assume some other KVR people are. What do you suggest we do about it, though? I'm not too clear on how group buys work exactly, but what if only certain people who have been here long enough can start group buys? Only active members with a certain number of posts should be able to start them? :shrug:

btw that makes me remember one big company here when I was a kid, they had/have many employees in plants across the region...one accountant (this was mid 70's) got busted taking ten cents more for deductions from employees pay checks. One guy oneday did the math and discovered it, he started getting his friends to check...sure enough, most people look at the taxes and stuff and as long as it's consistant they don't suspect anything...sure he got caught, but not before making a lot of money...;)

I have no other suggestion other then what's been already said...be careful and don't become complacent...I dont suggest we do anything about it...but I do suggest we don't ignore the possibility...;)

Sounds like a plan to me. This thread will definitely raise awareness of the possibility. It's not being paranoid, either! Being a little more cautious couldn't hurt. :)
