I agree, but you have to understand and respect BONES point of view (though not so bitterly expressed wouldn't hurt). He believes less is more, as he said too me once "why would anyone need more then one host"...I can understand and relate, but I also learn from mutiple hosts....but his point of view is valid and noble imo...james0tucson wrote:The survey is all wrong, since it's a no-brainer to get eXT *AND* FLS.
Upgrade FL or Buy energyXT?

For that they have only themsleves to blame. I was perfectly happy to remain a registered user but they decided for some reason that because I preferred ORION I should not be allowed to continue to use Fruity as well. What really galled me was that I was just as vocal defending Fruity as I was criticising it, they just chose to ignore anything I said that didn't suit their agenda. As I said, you live to be offended by Image-Line, there's not much I can do about that.
Class-leading? What, kindergarten? MMWWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!FL Studio 6 was free and is a superb upgrade to an already class leading program. I wonder what FL 7 will bring?

Hopefully piano-roll midi export. Such a basic and useful feature.
I'm planning to move to Podium once my current work is done, FL's audio handling just can't cut it for anything other than basic recording and chopping, and I'm tired of rendering to disk all the time every time I change something on a midi track.
Unfortunately FL won't let you export midi into another host.

This is one of the main reasons I h8 FLS - that & the fact it uses it owns unique format to save everything - fst instead of the much more universal fxp is an example. Don't get me wrong I used to like FL, but for every 10 things it does well, it has 1 REALLY annoying thing that justs make me wana scream!lunik wrote:Unfortunately FL won't let you export midi into another host.
Not without editting the midi file exported via FL you don't. I asked gol this recently & he has confirmed it, saying that loads of other information is added to the midi file, like program changes, etc - that weren't there originally, this causes the file not to play properly in eXT, I'm not sure about other hosts thoughnormal wrote:i do it all the time ...

ah...clever...replace my instrument with an instance eXT and press record within eXT, something like that?
Lagrange wrote:lunik.. yes I know that sucks but you can record it!! Using EXT as a "back-catcher" for your midi!!

If I have to "understand" BONES, the game is lost. He's entitled to his opinion, but I honestly don't understand why he comments on FLS topics at all. He is literally the furthest possible thing from a FLS user.Hink wrote:I agree, but you have to understand and respect BONES point of viewjames0tucson wrote:The survey is all wrong, since it's a no-brainer to get eXT *AND* FLS.

You can make Midi-OX filter everything except note messages and whatever controllers you care about. I suppose it's more often a good thing than a bad thing that the midi-out generator does resets. It's pretty strange that you can't select that as an option. But then, the FL devs don't like MIDI. Not that they are in a position to supersede MIDI with the next thing, of course. Strange business to be in, if you don't like MIDIflippya2000 wrote:This is one of the main reasons I h8 FLS - that & the fact it uses it owns unique format to save everything - fst instead of the much more universal fxp is an example. Thanx for the tip! Looks like those midi files ruined by FL may be rescueable after all..james0tucson wrote:You can make Midi-OX filter everything except note messages and whatever controllers you care about.
Still itz alot quicker to just use a host, like eXT, that export midi files correctly in the 1st place..
Strange indeed..james0tucson wrote:Strange business to be in, if you don't like MIDI Shrug
