ex-f**king-zactly

I hate it when people (particularly adults...) say 'Oh yeah? well you need THIS to happen to you...'

When actually i wouldnt need any big experience to happen to me like so because im not thick-headed and can think clearly and openly with out any external experience needed for aid

It is sad...but true for a lot of us...
I had an instance where I didn't know whether I was going to walk out alive or not. I was lucky, I'm still here. When things get bad in life I remember this situation. It makes me appreciate life, it is a blessing. Am I spiritual, I don't know. Am I alive, YES I AM!!! Am I making music, YES I AM!!! Is my music spiritual? You tell me how it makes you feel. :)
Anti-aliasing is for "synthmonk%ys".

I definitely have to agree with this. I know this is a very personal subject and one many people may not want to share on public forums. Is anyone familiar with the spiritual practices that Eric Johnson, Santana and (maybe ) Steve Vai subscribe to? It has something to do with a certain Master Singh... One of their beliefs, I think, is that the "Word" that "God" used to create physical reality was actually singing and not speaking. So the first "emanation" was musical sound. They have this cool meditation where you follow the sound in your ear back to the source of all sound. I have met Eric and he is very spiritual. He wouldn't say so though....
Fripp, on the other hand, follows the teachings of Gurdjieff. Intense in a whole different way..."The Fourth Way" for you Ouspensky fans out there.

i'd really like you to elaborate on this statement, hopefully with an example...the situation for me that makes it so i "have nothing better to do than think about shit like this" may not be entirely unlike what you describe (put it this way, i'd rather go out every day and dig ditches), but i have no idea what you are talking about specifically...i can guess, i think there are events that give one a more lucid perspective on life and whatnot, but what is "one month's duration" about? i'm pretty far from spiritual or religious, but the universe/reality/perception/anthropology are definately worth considering and discussing, as is the creative process...you can operate as an "outside insider" all you want, just clarify your statements, i'm interested in what you have to say....

at least say if you had the ball & gag in your mouth or the other guy did...

i've decided that bones is rarely serious. i feel it's his job here to bark every once in a while. he's just addin a little color to the experience

he seems serious only when he's talkin technical. the rest seems like an act. i could be wrong, but i think he leaves his goggles on most of the time

I think this does describe me well, I think you'll both understand what I say next. The wife doesn't understand it, nor does my daughter...first there is a big difference between writing on the pc and when I sit down with mu guitar...when I'm writing I'm in a creative/critical thinking state of mind....so problems encountered and interuptions are unwanted...but hardly destructive to the process.

On the other hand, when I'm playing if you walk in the room and I don't see you you're gonna scare the play right out of me, just as if all of a sudden I have some technical issue that requires too much think...I can't just go back "there"...I can get back "there"...after my state of mind recovers...I know that sounds insane, but even a knock on the door can screw me up...like I say it's an altered state and when I snap back quickly I get confused, angry, scared and anxious all at once...

Answering the topic's question- I'd say pretty strongly..

I believe in God and that he created all of us (including me of course). As a result, just by that very nature anything I create is an extension of him (even if my little songs are a very very minute extension :hihi:).

Tie this concept in with my signature quote.. and you pretty much have it for me. :)

personally im sorta the opposite - metaphysical essences and god and that stuff doesnt exist for me, so i just play with objects because what else is there to do.
come on you ..... lets have some aphex acid.

Indistinguishable. Undifferentiated. I draw no distinctions. In fact, I've just posted a piece (my first one in about six months) that actually explores this ground...it's a piece constructed entirely from samples taken from a sermon from the 1920s. While not wanting to pimp my piece, you can read about it and get the links to listen, should you be intersted, at:

Humans are so much fun...

As soon as you say something is *spiritual*, then you are saying that there is something *other* that is not spiritual.

This dualism stuff all started in Western culture with the Greeks. Platonic dualism came from early Western philosophers/thinkers' contemplating consciousness and subconsciousness, and they came up with the physical and the metaphysical views of the world.

This school of thought got amplified and expounded upon/compounded by myriad shamans and prompted the jews and others (who all spoke Macedonian Greek and were philosophically influenced by the Greeks by virtue of Alexander's conquests for hundreds of years) to come up with various forms of religion -- mostly having the *feudal* style heirarchy -- an all-wise, all powerful king (Jehova), a sweet and loving queen beyond the reach of mortal men (Mary), the handsome charming prince (Jesus), and the various nobles and king's guard (apostles, saints, the pope, etc.) worshipped by the loyal subjects (the congregation) in the strong and beautiful-to-behold Palace (the church/cathedral).

In most Eastern philosophies, there is no spiritual/non-spiritual per se, but everything is treated as a magical whole -- every rock, tree, animal -- all an inseparable part of each other and the cosmos.

Interesting :)

he's right
occasionally I like to throw myself in front of a moving car
just to put things back in perspective

but for hardcore month-long life endangering experiences nothing beats getting lost in snow covered mountains until you have to eat a part of your own body.

yes, id agree that if your gonna supply violent force for the government as a job, the last thing you'd want to do is to pause and think.
