FTC, the ESC guy never responded to my e-mail which basically begged him to sell me his product. At this point I'm giving up, at least for awhile.
Garth at Chicken Systems has kindly offered to try
to solve the issues that plagued my attempted use of Translator Free, so I'm willing to have another
go.
I'll post my results in case anyone's insterested.

I spoke to him a while back, via email, about adding ShortCircuit support to the new exsc2006. This was while ago, November maybe. Seems odd that he's not responding to emails...

Wow! This is a shame, as it looks like he was on his way to grabbing a piece of the market. In fact, his GUI was superior to most of them that I have seem (e.g. Chicken Systems Translator). I will certainly keep the door open for his return. Hopefull, all is well, and he'll be back in the saddle again.

There is another post in the sample forum where jammer42777 got a reply and he said it would be up for sale in Feb again.

Cool! Thanks, man. I was hoping to hear that, as were a few other members. My only concern is his commitment to the ongoing development. Hopefully, he'll address that. His GUI and approach, appears to be in the top percentile.manytone wrote:There is another post in the sample forum where jammer42777 got a reply and he said it would be up for sale in Feb again.

I think he takes his time making sure that each version is SOLID before releasing it to the public. So you know you aren't getting a beta version that has bugs and still needs work!

You can get everything you want in Translator now. Why wait?
BTW, the approach is the same in both programs - click the button to translate.
The Translator is much more flexible - you can see inside SampleTank files, it's not limited to lists, you can customize it and on and on.
There's tons of extra features, handy utilities, and we include a CPS service (Custom Programming Service) where you can request features and depending on the request and the complexity, we can do it within 24 hours in some cases.
Again, you can call us (next week, this week we are at NAMM) at 800-877-6377 or 320-235-9798 and immediately talk to us and get information.

I'll allow some leeway if you've been working on NAMM. However, I responded to your PM, and dropped a question to info@, 4 and 3 days ago respectively, and haven't heard back yet. Is this indicative of your support, or is it just a bad time?chickeneps wrote:You can get everything you want in Translator now. Why wait?
Also, I might suggest that one, maybe two responses from a competing developer in a thread could be seen as informative. The more you post, asking people to buy your product instead, tends to look a little desparate. We are aware of your translator, so maybe you should let this discussion develop on its own.
Cheers,

I'm not surprised you'd try to hijack this thread. Please stay in your Chicken Translator Sucks threads. Thank you.chickeneps wrote:You can get everything you want in Translator now. Why wait?
P.S. Envoy has made a few valid points...you ain't gone yet?

I definitely got this impression, as well, Ben. After all, I have better things to do with my time than to system test for someone, so that they can make their deadlines and save money...how clever!ben_horwood wrote:I think he takes his time making sure that each version is SOLID before releasing it to the public. That may be, and I have nothing but gratitude for developers that take care and diligent testing before releasing code. However, there are plenty of developers that manage to do that without dissapearing from the face of the Earth (or the net, at least)!G&L_player wrote:I definitely got this impression, as well, Ben.ben_horwood wrote:I think he takes his time making sure that each version is SOLID before releasing it to the public. Just pointing out that Translator is robust, solid, and complete. It supports converting into SampleTank from many more formats than any other. We can back that up personally. For example, many Sonic Reality products are developed with Translator involved; one wonders that if a code is purportedly so awful why it would be used by a, if not the, major SampleTank supporting company. But, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.envoy wrote:That may be, and I have nothing but gratitude for developers that take care and diligent testing before releasing code. NAMM takes 24 hours of our time when it occurs. We value it because we can meet users and prospective users face to face and deonstrate the product and lets them try it. We have SampleTank and other samplers on our units and people can see and try the conversions and note how well they come out.
So we can't get back to the regulsr customers who call or email until we get out, which is a depature from the regualr 24 hour standard we usually go by. My apologies, Monday we will be trying to finish out all in-line customer contact.
Again, you can try Translator Free and check out the conversions to see for yourself.
