The content of the Full version details was posted in full (you have to click on "see all messages" to reveal the whole thread) and the content of the "Upgrade" box was included in full by me in the initial post on this thread. The picture of the new-look Adobe box is included in the thread that Hink linked to.

So there it is - all that we know right now.

I guess that within the next week or two all will become clear, and I for one can't wait to see how this product looks once the official announcement is out

My Gut Response... is that from what is known about this imminent update, I think it looks to me that Adobe have paid attention to developing both the multitrack audio recording and sequencing capabilities (e.g. unlimited tracks, ASIO drivers, new mixing engine) AND the audio editing tools (better mastering facilities, more frequency spectrum tools, etc). And they appear to have resisted the temptation to turn Audition into a "me too" MIDI sequencer. All of which bodes well.

These improvements *could* put Audition exactly where it belongs - at the TOP of the wave editor tree. We're looking at features that are well ahead of SoundForge. My only slight surprise is that there is so far no mention of DVDAudio burning (Wavelab's one stand-out feature).

As a multitracker, they will need to have done rather more than is so far clear (see my previous list). The Tempo/Time Signature track is a must in my view.

So... it will be exciting to see...

My guess is Adobe do not want too much similarity in their products so unless they drop Encore (looks unlikely just yet) then AA2 is very unlikely to have DVD Audio burning. I could be wrong as I have not seen the full AA2 specs but Adobe have so many specialised product offerings that they have to distinguish them from each other to avoid the sales of one affecting another IMO.

Encore may not handle DVD A yet (not sure) but if it doesn't Encore may likely get it before AA.

Just my guess.

As for Samplitude 8...I thought you knew I had that! It is actually much better than I thought. The audio engine is fantastic, as well as the FX.

Not a real time host like Live for me, but Live 5 seems to work fine rewired to Samp8 over here anyway. Quite a combo, but I tend to use Samp 8 as an extension of Sonar through my tools menu within Sonar. Very handy.

It's midi function's are pretty good as well. It has a very nice drum grid, with differnt quantise settings for each drum part, like Logic! I don't think even Sonar has this in V.5:shock:

Having read the Samplitude manual I am still amazed how capable it is for midi work alone as it has been playing catch up in this area for some time.

It's quite funny browsing the Samplitude users forum because unlike KVR you have to be registered user to get in...at all that is. It's a bit like a door closing behind you when you finally get access to it Great program though. If you like AA you will definitely like Samplitude. But it does use a dongle which I think AA does not need and cost's way more than AA.

AA seems more focused on Audio only, while Magix are clearly aiming for the Audio and midi market, Hence the difference in price I guess.

see, for me, one of the things that wavelab has that audition lacks is the ability to create effect racks and being able to use these in realtime in wave edit mode.


don't get me wrong, though.......I am definintely a fan of Audition.....I just wish this is something that they would change because it really puts a damper on workflow.

As it's a while since I demoed Wavelab I may be misunderstanding what you mean here. In Audition's multitrack view you can have an effect rack set up on every channel, with most of the effects working in real time.

I get the impression that the new Mastering Rack they mention is going to be something similar that can be previewed in real time in the edit view, so that you can test the effect of adding multiple effects at once.

If this is not what you meant, what is it that Wavelan does?

I am talking about realtime effects in edit view. This is the view that I personally use the most in a wave editor - not the multitrack view. When I multitrack, I need an app that supports midi.

Knowing Adobe they probably made it capable of exporting to PDF.

1.5 Supports VST fx (although they have to be well behaved).
