Recording on quarter-inch tape at 7.5 i.p.s., snipping it into one-inch slices, throwing it all up in the air, and then glueing it back together.

personally, I find LiveSlice does about as much as I need

LOL. i feel there is a big difference between stutter edits in your song and the actual song you write - chord progressions, melodies, harmonies etc.bluedad wrote:maybe we should demand a plugin that will write the damn tune for us!

Yes, I thought I did? I was even considering buying it but was short on cash at the time. On the surface and by watching the flash demos it seemed to do the same stuff as Phatmatik/Recycle stuff but I will take a better look at it again, and I missed the Randomize featureR.A.W. wrote:did you demo liveslice? i don't think you did- there are no tons of work left to get something useful out of it.. and for the lazy people (like me, too
) there's still the random-button.
I see RND now. I need to take a better look at this plug.

Has anyone got the link to that video, it sounds really interesting.scuzzphut wrote:There's also Reaktor. Did anyone see that video which Quincy posted , showing the Drum-n-Bass dude with his live Reaktor setup![]()
You should definitely look at that video before making a choice!!

I just finished some reaktor patches that you might like...
the 3 are:
live time stretch - slows down the read of a 10 second buffer. great for breakdowns
buffer freeze - self explanatory really, made using tim exiles' core cell macros
buffer reverse - plays back the last 4 seconds of audio in reverse or forward
it's available here: http://people.ucsc.edu/~avalizan/nn/code/realtime.rar

Compared to Recycle it's interactive and ACID, and compared to Phatmatik it's native Windows and under development (and not a version that's called beta for almost 2 years). And LiveSlice has great support and getting more innovative features all the time.Mr. Tunes wrote:Yes, I thought I did? I was even considering buying it but was short on cash at the time. Right I hear that. I guess though the one thing I noticed how it differs from the similarly named "Livecut" is that although Liveslice has a randomize feature, I don't think it works as rapidly as say Livecut which is plugin designed to randomly reorder things at a rapid rate... so rapid that you need a whole other plugin to capture it's output!(DM LSR??). Am I correct on this?M'Snah wrote:Compared to Recycle it's interactive and ACID, and compared to Phatmatik it's native Windows and under development (and not a version that's called beta for almost 2 years). you are right, LiveSlice is a slicing tool and not mainly an effect which randomly produces such rapid sounds. you could do that with LS, too, but you'd have to programm a little more to get such sounds.Mr. Tunes wrote:I don't think it works as rapidly as say Livecut which is plugin designed to randomly reorder things at a rapid rate... so rapid that you need a whole other plugin to capture it's output!(DM LSR??). the main reason why it's called LiveSlice is its built-in arranger/sequencer where you visually rearrange loops fast and on the fly in the plugs GUI, not only in a piano-roll as with other slicers.
if you need more info you can read my review http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1952.html
and then download the demo and give it another try

While we're on the topic of Beat Mashing, I just listened to two of your tunes and they are really wicked!!! I just bookmarked the Control Center under Cool Artists in my Firefox.thecontrolcentre wrote:i use Chop Factory in Reaktor a lot... not always easy to tell what you're doing but i always get a result
