I'm gonna bookmark this thread - cool ideas popping up. That lemu project looks just like my kind of app.
It is not only a real software application or physical interface but also the concept of sponaneitey within electronic music: Jamming.
- yummy :-)

Synthmaker has a code component - c++ like syntax.
energy xt / bidule are modular midi processors btw. of you have good midi vst plugins.
They are, and I do use XT like this fairly regularly. But the plugins around - although great and extremely useful - don't quite provide the ease of use and flexibility a more integrated solution would.

Have you seen the Soma_CC_form that NicFit and I made together?

Isn't Xt a modular Midi environment?
And like I said, I have aspirations of releasing a VST midi editor with simple scripting support. (It will be donationware or very cheap, if I ever get that far.)

BTW Reaktor is a modular midi environment that can be edited realtime.

The main problem I see with modular setups comprised of separate plugs etc is that it is not so easy to recall these setups as patches or to automate them.

I did post a FR regarding sub-patches so that you could easily recall the patches/settings used by the plugins within a group for instance.

I also think that a virtual control surface would be a good addition in eXT too. Buttons to trigger loops etc

now this looks cool.....definately worth snatching some ideas from

Soma: I use the plugins you and NicFit have made all the time, but it would still be nice to have all this functionality contained in one module.

The point you make about XT is a good one. Apart from easier patch recall, with the aforementioned plugins I imagine you can do pretty much anything a program like Building Blocks can.
