Wow Music Creator 3 appears to have Sonar's full piano roll + Drum editor, new mixer with icons and even the Navigation view! That price is soooooo low. :o

Post

I wonder if MC3 has a vst/vsti limit per track?

Post

I used Music Creator 2002 for a while and had fun with it. It actually had about the all the features I could want at a lower price -- with one major exception: no VST support. Cakewalk stuck to its guns on using DX only for a long time. Its higher level products now have native VST support, I think, but I'm not sure Music Creator has it. In any case, I think they added in a quality DXi synth, and Synth 1 can be downloaded for free in DX mode, so you can still do pretty well. Check and see if the new version of Music Creator supports VST.

The new version supports VSTs, yeah. I'm pretty sure my 2003 does also.
Mizutaphile.

It apparently has DX, VST and even Rewire!! Amazing at that price!

I just tested multiple vst outputs with Groove Agent in MC3 - works like a charm. I just bought it yesterday. I've been using Sonar for a while in a friend's studio setup, and was planning on getting it for myself at some point, but thought I'd give MC3 a whirl in the meantime. I'm really impressed - the only thing that I used regularly on Sonar that's missing so far is the Freeze function, but other than that it rocks!!

I'd really like to see a comparison chart though. There must be one out there somewhere!

anyone knows if there is midi remote assignation of the mixuing desk, and way of recording automations?

Post

You can record automation - just tested it. You can remote control too - looks like the same options as Sonar, e.g. midi learn etc.

If it does thats also amazing because its cheaper than the VST to DX adapter is, which presumably it incorporates.

Post

Can you route in multiple audio sources at the same time?

Post

what about bussing and send??
it look like it could be a good deal as a recording host

Post

It comes with the Cakewalk VST adaptor as in Sonar, you can only route single inputs/outputs at the same time, and you can use 2 fx sends and 8 busses.

Post

I don't think MC3 has acid making but will play back an acid file.

Post

You can playback acid files, and create groove clips as in Sonar, which are basically the same thing. It has the Loop Construction window as in Sonar.

Post

damn, it has everything and is pretty cheap...
so bad cakewalk communication about features and limitation is that bad, and there is no way to download demo or manual to have a precise idea.
