Thanks. It's tempting to buy the rack. But my keyboard now is frustrating to me. After playing piano for 17 years, I'm restricted to a VERY limited keyboard until I can get a better one. I have a piano back home that is mine whenever I want it. However, my apartment neighbors may have something to say about that! So the ES-8 was the option I chose to pursue. I drool every time I play with it. I may have to go for the rack until then for a more portable solution.
Thanks for the little guide!

Arpeggiators like what is on the Motif ES-8. Do they exist?

You can do similar things In Reaktor - for example Leviathan by E Meyer is capable of very complex arpeggiation and phrasing and outputs to midi.

My wife and I have a condo, so I fully understand the neighbor problem. BTW, I was wrong, you don't even have to have the arp on to select and hear a softsynth program, just make sure the track is armed. Of course, the Motif ES/Rack ES have a great sound, so you don't have to use softsynths. Softsynths are just another avenue to explore.koolkeys wrote:Thanks. It's tempting to buy the rack. Good luck with whatever you decide. The Motif ES has a great keyboard, so I certainly understand your wanting a Motif ES8, especially with your piano background. I started to mention the Korg KARMA. Their Generated Effects are like ARPs on steroids. I can't even begin to describe them. I think the KARMA is more suited to electronic music, and as a piano player, I don't think you would like the keyboard at all.
Best regards,
Larry
