Is this some kind of joke.... :nutter:

Does jp2 have a twin that we don't know about?

a lot of the more complex compressors actually are difficult to use in my opinion. they're usually based upon low distortion, smooth shaping, etc. if you want just a plain compressor like you'd get with a guitar insert, try mine: http://xhip.cjb.net/temp/xhipeffects_compressor.dll

i wrote this because when trying other software compressors i really didnt like the result. it seemed like they are ment to do something other than the usual tasks of compression.. this one works exactly the same as the most simple circuit you can build, and infact i designed the electronic circuit first and based the dsp code upon it.

i think some of the problem with these things is the same as the problem with "why does software suck compared to analog/hardware".. uh.. probably because you keep listening to what other people say, have no personal experiance with these things and have a highly active imagination.

yes, there are differences, but they're only differences. i've never heard someone complain "why does a flute not sound like a guitar".. come on. i can understand if you're talking about those software which are advertised as "sounds analog.. using patented suprah-vxq analog emulation technology".. well, i can explain that, they're liars, false advertising!

only an elephant is an elephant, a giraffe is never an elephant no matter how much you paint it grey or claim it is!

"why does 4 not equal 192?" is not a valid question! in asking such things your logic is obviously flawed. now get over it and make some music.

My kinda thread! Image

i've made a special edition of my "dont whine like a baby" track, demonstrating my compressor, and my impression of the thread starter.

kinda hard to follow a thread this way :nutter:

you can pretty much tell what he was saying. using his imagination most likely and see my examples of invalid logic.

"one should equal two." because?....

i mean... actually -- some hardware compressors DO change the sound without any gain reduction -- but as already mentioned, its cause of input/output circuits or something. So, his point is valid -- but im sure some of the software compressors out there do the same thing --- marquis I have demoed and can confirm that one at least.

i like your codeing skills!!! :tu:

if you listen to my mp3, you'll also notice the rms is extremely modified while having the same peak gain, and i'm tweaking that in realtime too, no assistance from calculations in the plugin. i could do peak gain matching from input to output if it were a feature that is nessicary..

but god man, use the gain control!

i think he was talking more about nonsence than that though, since even a compressor like mine works beautifully to do that. he should try my compressor and tell if that is what he is talking about though... i doubt he would like it.

all compressors/expanders/gates should be able to maintain equal peak gain while adjusting rms, that is the whole point of a compressor. if your compressor cant do that, throw it out because its broken!

well, mate - you can't start a thread to slag off what we're all using daily (so you are actually insulting us if you think about it ;-)) without expecting adequate replies... :)

I think we're seeing (yet another) case of someone who's seriously lacking in communication skills, ie having trouble functioning in a verbal-only conversation context. Or maybe he's just a dumbass

Either way, stay off forums!

voxengo stinks and is for preppy losers!

actually i think he either just didnt know what he was talking about or didnt know how to say it. no need to get all defensive about what you "use". i happen to think most compressors software or hardware gulp dinks too. doesnt mean i imply that users of those compressors are gulpers of dinks, nor do i imply verified dink gulping individuals use said compressors. dont take it personally, the meaning behind the words no matter which words is abstract.

Best advice ever!
Wait... loot _then_ burn? D'oh!

infact i suggest rather than reply plainly to such comments, people should instead come up with audio to express themselves.

for example i could say the thread starter and many of those who replied are whining sniveling babies, but instead i posted some audio showing;

1) my compressor does that what was said software does not and can not do, irrefutably asserting that the oposite is true
2) what compressed whining sniveling babies on acid sound like
