now it's back up to 128k. so if this is an example (it's been going now for an hour, file creation time is 10:23 and it's about 11:23 and 350 megs have been sent), we can expect 9 gigs of transfer to need about 26 full hours. i'm fine with that. :)

9 * 1024 = 9216 megs / 350 (the number of megs i've recieved this hour) = 26.33

actually there is 9140 megs though, so it's just under 9 gig by a hair. glad i dont have to pay image-line's bandwidth bill this month :)

also some help for others:

i've noticed the file is downloading to:
c:\documents and settings\rchristy\local settings\temp
the file (in this case amped) is named:
Amped (Bulk Samples).flinstaller
though i've configured directwave library path to m:\[directwave], and expect the downloader to move the files there when it's done, there is an ini file that relates to the fldownloader located here:
C:\Program Files\Image-Line\FL Studio 6\System\Tools\FLInstaller\Downloads\directwave.txt
this file is hidden so you may have to show all files to see it. anyway this file contains a few variables at the top:
;Options
$FileExt=.dwp
$RootPath=Data\Patches\Packs\Samplefusion\
$FilePath=Data\Patches\Packs\Samplefusion\
which looks to me like the final download destination of where these files get saved to after they are completed and copied/moved from the temporary directory. i had downloaded some samples prior to this and there was a folder for the sample pack in this directory already, so i'm guessing the directwave library path is not the same as the fldownload manager save path.

is there some way to change this besides editing the file above? it's relative directory so i'm nervous to change it myself to an absolute path like m:\[directwave] ...

anyway that may help some people. obviously you need the free space to download this stuff successfully, so free up about 10 gig if you have to or download one at a time and burn them off as you go ... haven't finished any downloads yet, 70% on amped will post back when it finishes with what i find.

Post

ok finished with amped. it downloaded from 10:23 am to 12:14 pm - 157 minutes for 580 megs.

it put the files into:
C:\Program Files\Image-Line\FL Studio 6\Data\Patches\Packs\Samplefusion\Amped
and extracted them on it's own with subdirectories... then deleted the temporary file it used to download.

going to try changing that directwave.txt file and see if i can move to my external drive now. wish me luck. i don't have 9 gigs free on C:, M: (music :D) is quite roomy though.

Post

ok, in the directwave.txt i changed:
$RootPath=Data\Patches\Packs\Samplefusion\
$FilePath=Data\Patches\Packs\Samplefusion\
to:
$RootPath=M:\[SAMPLES]\CDs\SampleFusion
$FilePath=M:\[SAMPLES]\CDs\SampleFusion
however, when doing a refresh, it reverts back to the original value. this IMO, is a major oversight and needs some option to change the download path for samplefusion samples. i have not enough room on my C:, but tons on other disks... going to re-edit and not refresh this next time to see what happens :)

Post

apparently
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Image-Line\FL Download Manager\Downloads
contains the paths and stuff when it refreshes, so it looks like i'm going to have to do it one at a time to C: then move to M: on my own. but this screws me because directwave wont let me see what i have moved to M: ...

so, official request to Image-Line: can you please add an option to choose where the downloads are saved to for sample fusion?

thanks!

going to submit a tech support ticket with link to this thread now. sent.. i'll let everyone know what they say. i'm sure i'm not the only person who will need this.

Post

Ok thought it was because i didn't have enough space on my computer as its quite old, i made enough space but still no luck

:) Thanks. I'll probably find it useful for my external USB drive, when I get it (soon).

I can't even get to the downloading of the sets stage  The last sample pack i downloaded i purchased using paypal within a min or two i had a zip ready to download and it worked great. I really don't get why there has to be such a (what i think is anyway) frustrating method of downloading :( I hope something is done about this as soon as possible, im happy with cds being sent to me or .zip or single .wav file downloads which is what i was originally guessing they would be.

the reason i think is because they are guaranteed security. with a zip file and a password protected directory (as one example), it's easy to just give the stuff away. this way they know that you are really who you say, because the .reg file puts in this information, and this while it could be shared, can atleast be BLOCKED on their end if duplicates exist, as well as if someone shared their stuff, the duplicates could be flagged on their end and the customer then banned for sharing their registration information.

because it's download only, and such, there are going to be delays, but this was in the store text for the product (download only no cd will be shipped). so just have patience, and since it's sunday i'm doubting anyone will get back to you today dan, but i bet they do first thing monday when they come into the office. you gotta be patient. understand your frustration though.

i'm at 37% of the second one (bass case), it's slowing down now. i was averaging 128k/s now it's about 80k/s.

EDIT: I have downloaded samplfusion samples from the myflstudio link off the flstudio webpage. there is a link that says, "download 2GB or samples"

Maybe that same link will get you all of the samples after buying the special.
