Of course I do. There have been several discussions on how to improve the pattern arranger. But one thing I'm certain, is that it will never be like the track arranging approach on linear sequencers like Cubase. More like FL Studio's Playlist maybe.
(which also happen to be a pattern based sequencer & I truly hope it stays that way)

It might really be possible to program such a feature, it just wouldn't make much sense from a trackers point of view. (to me at least. One mans dreams might be another ones nightmares)
If you're actually talking about audio recording & the ability to see the waves along with the pattern data, then I fully agree.
It's just the pattern based approach that should (and probably will) stay untouched.

sQeetz: my idea is to see patterns as a sound clips instead of 'numbers'. I developed that feature (in one of my unfinished trackers
) few years ago and trust me it really helps with arrangement.

something like that:

? :p
It's been suggested since...well a long time ago.
This is just a mock up.
here is the whole thread with the discussion about it.

Renoise set as midislave + midiyoke + another sequencer capable to send midi sync signals through midiyoke and you're more than set. ^^rpc9943 wrote:again, most of these struggles could be solved with revisit!!!! Its just you have to really know IT2 interface not ft2

Of course you would need a soundcarcd that allows more than one program accessing the ASIO driver if you don't want to use DirectX sound. (Echo cards can e.g. I had an EMU0404 which couldn't)

It's not like all this is not discussed in the renoise forums before.
I would say you have to be a genius to think of something new that has not been suggested before
In the beginning there was a discussen of entire pattern based arranger vs clip(track) based arranger.
Then it went on to how to integrate a new arranger that would coexist with the current very simple but effective pattern sequencer.
I tried to sum up some of the discussion:

Most likely the bpm timing was inaccurate. Various VST plugins didn't liked the *real* bpm timings of 128.012 etc.moonlite wrote:actually, last time when i was considering renoise as my "the" host, i /did/ try both fxfreeze and the voxengo latency delay. can't remember exactly what was wrong, since it was a good while ago,
Currently the set bpm timing is now really rounded so 128 bpm is now really 128 bpm, this should take away synchronisational pain with time specific plugins.

In Renoise 1.8, you're now able to do this when rendering your song, you'll only need to load the samples by hand. The new Disk Browser is able to select multiple files, which you can drag then into your instrument or sample slot.moonlite wrote:...
i'd really like to see renoise rendering the tracks split by patterns into normal samples that you can then go on tweaking and editing =)

oh, kewl! so you mean that in addition of rendering each track separate, it also now splits the rendered tracks into pattern-long samples?nitex wrote:In Renoise 1.8, you're now able to do this when rendering your song, you'll only need to load the samples by hand.
