Anyone know what will happen to the Steinberg A-1?

A1 is not included on the dvd, if you've already got it then good, If you haven't then you won't.

I don't know what you gusy are talknig about. The only thing Steinberg did was not include this synth in cubase 4. If you use cubase sx3 or any other version that has a1, you can still use it in a1. So before another over dramatic thread is created, people should do some reasrch on the topic within the cubase forum before creating a panic.

well the OP has reason to be concerned, as now the A-1 is an unsupported product, techically, no?

The problem is that my company currently sells a preset bank for the A-1, authored by Frank Neuman...If the new version 4 does not support the A-1, or does not include it...customers new to Cubase will not be getting it. This will mean, that since the A-1 is both no longer supported and no longer available for distribution to new customers, I'll have to plan to discontinue our A-1 soundset. Now, there are exceptions to this rule of selling soundsets for synthesizers that are no longer supported (our daAlfa2k soundset for example), but even those will have to be completely dropped eventually, as the synths will not be updated to handle vst architecture and operating system architecture changes. See, ya gotta think ahead toughguy. So, before making an "Overdramatic" post labeling a thread "Overdramatic", when it is, in fact, not "Overdramatic", I suggest you keep your hands in your pockets and away from the keyboard.

Ok, now fuckwad, I guess you can't read straight. I am betting there has been no upsdate for this synth for quite some time. This synth currently works on SX4, I know, I have used it on that platform, so pre-existing users of cubase will not be a problem for you. So people will still use this synth. Instead of crying about a bank of patches that probably didn't make more then a 1000 pouunds a year, there are 3 new cubase synths that you can create banks for. Also, if you are so worried about having patches for synths that are not supported any more then why do you still sell patches for the PPG wave. Hardly any way to legally get that synth, but it appears that your still selling your patches. Nothing wrong with that, but with so many synths out there to make content for what is there to worry about. I understand that this is a product that you are afraid you are going to lose, but instead of worrying, there are so many other things that can done instead of creating drama. I mean this doesn't happen just by steinberg, but it happens every time a hardware synth is discontinued, but again, you don't see owners for those sound design companies crying that they have to adapt. Also, I do believe the a1 synth is on the dvd of cubase 4, so u can still rejoice on that, but seriously, to many cry babys on these forums and I just hope these people are just as passionate to create music.

First off, the hardware synth debate is null and void, due to the fact that it's completely legal for the owner of any discontinued hardware synthesizer to sell it to another user...keeping the possibility of new customers. Not the case with the A-1. Second, it's more a problem of the soundset being contracted out work...meaning it's authored by a sound designer other than myself, and I now have to tell the poor guy we're discontinuing his product, therefor cutting a legal contract short, which is not a practice I like to engage in. Third, and most importantly, you've been way out of line since you entered this thread. You're assumptions have been off since the start, and your comments uninvited. Do yourself a favor, save some face, and shut your mouth.

Hey, didn't mean to take it as far as I did, but when name calling gets thrown in the air I get alittle defensive. My orginal post was not meant towards your orginal questions, more towards all the B.S. flaming towards Steinberg. I didn't mean to take your thread out of context.
