Thanks for the words of support, Uchdryd (the check's in the mail! ;)) Synth1 is quite a wonder! And I agree that Ms. Nolwenn is one of the best patch creators out there. All her work is good, but she consistantly has more ear-popping surprises in her banks than anyone else I've heard. Thanks Ms. N!

I've got a patch where I'd like to lessen the initial percussive sound (similar to the Hammond organ 'thunk')a bit, as it sounds a little fuzzy/static when playing rapid intervals.
What knobs on Synth1 would lessen this initial transient? thanks.
There is more than one way to create a percussive punch in Synth1, so lessening the attack depends on your method of achieving it in the frst place. Is it volume based, or filter based, or a combo of the two?

All this in the Filter area - try turning the Decay (D) knob to the right a bit and notice how the punch get's longer - is this what you're looking for? How about turning the Amount knob to the left (which often requires compensating the loss of filter with an adjustment of the Frq knob to the right a little) - is this helping? Or you can rasie the Sustain knob (S) to the right, thereby reducing the fall after the initial attack. Just experiemnet with these many functions in various combinations and see what happens.

OR, is the percussion comming from the Amp section - same knob changes as listed above.

Are you using a saw LFO mod? How about a little noise through the Ring Mod? M. Env effect? Arpeggiator gate? As you can see there are so many ways to create a percussive attack that it's nearly impossible to answer your question without hearing and analyzing the patch/sound! Maybe some of these suggestions will help you find the sound you want. And as always - EXPERIMENT! Good luck!

Try Nolween's "Annabelle" bank.
Where is this exactly?

Thanks,
Brandon

Uchdryd wrote:3) How does it compare to the Clavia Nord Lead 2 (http://www.vintagesynth.com/clavia/nord2.shtml), which it was supposedly designed to emulate?
to say it straight:
i love synth1.
but it's in no way an emulation of the nordlead2.
even if ichiro claims so.
it still misses too many features of the nordlead2, i.e. the morphing feature, which actually is one of the features that make the nord2 so unique (of course synth1 has others instead, which the nordlead2 hasn't).
but the main reason to fight the words "it's an nord2 emu" is simple:
synth1 doesn't sound like a nordlead at all. not the osc's, not the filters, etc ...
it's just a great synth. dot.

Perhaps FM envelope?

if it is done with fm, yes (the mod env), if not,
how about the obvious: the amp env?

That's supposed to be angry? Are you kidding?

Synth1 is capable of making sounds that can kill puppies and make school children cry.

Here's what an angry synth1 sounds like:

Only synth1 and a bit of verb used. Yes, the drums are synth1 too.

Was it that bad?
"The Juno 60 was often incorrectly referred to as a synth. It is, in fact, a chorus unit with a synth attached." -PAK

I'm not denying that. :hihi:

Your clip wasn't bad. I just didn't see how anyone could possibly think it was angry. Made me think of gay elves prancing through a forest or something. So yup, I had to give you some shit for it.

A better angry demonstration...

PD:I'd beg pardon to Nolwenn if my mistake has damaged her self-steem.
