You'd have to know, Dave, that your freaky "finger drumming" would get you noticed by the ...um... big fish (phish?). ;)

Congrats!

I was asked years ago to do some finger drumming to replace drum parts that didn't come out so good on an unreleased Keith Emerson album... that if they improved the drums they might release it. One of many things that were interesting but never happened. You never know though.

No Phish. But, Squish? ;)

Congratulations Dave. Me too I'm a Jon Anderson and Yes and The Who fan, especially Yes are my inspiration.

Dave, next time you interact with Bill, do remember me to him.. he'll either have no idea who you are talking about, or remember me as an irritating student who kept writing to him and pestered him for a drum lesson :hihi:

I read the Mike Portnoy interview with him in the current Rhythm mag - nice read, but little that's not already public domain...

Really pleased for you with all this work you're getting - tho' I doubt it seems much like work!

I do hope that they're not adding extra 'verb to the 5.1 mixes of the early albums.. we'll see..

If this project with Jon pans out boy are some Yes fans going to be happy... that's all I can say! We're going back and forth on some ideas. I wish I could say more but I can't until the right time and also with these things you know they don't always happen even if they are talked about. I've been talking to Jon here and there about doing something for several years now. It is nice that he emails me though as opposed to me just emailing him. Actually, I don't do that much with musicians. I SHOULD solicit some stuff musically with people but I rarely do. Gigs I do are the ones that are within reach somehow... a conversation with someone who knows someone and it leads to it because it seems to be okay (coast clear) to go there. I follow vibes delicately... yet I am extremely bold sometimes. In fact, what I asked to do with Jon is so bold that if it actually happens you will want to high five el Squidsarino BIG time. I'd hate to say it and it not happen though so... shhhhhh. ;) But, it's exciting anyway.

I am also excited to play at NAMM in between a lot of meetings and business stuff. I am playing "Back In NYC" with Jerry Marotta (from Peter Gabriel's original band) and also "Are You Going With Me" with Danny Gottlieb (and possibly Mark Egan both from Pat Metheny's original group). I am also playing a Spock's Beard song with Nick and some bearededs if they are there... Mike Keneally is playing in the SR booth as well (although I am not playing with him), Gary Sinise might even stop by on Saturday to sit in with Dannny (they have a band together, they played on one of the CSI NY episodes actually). In fact, he likes AYGWM too so maybe I'll do that one with him on Saturday. Or maybe I'll head over to Bed Bath and Beyond I don't know if I'll have enough time. Gonna be a nice little Saturday (name the movie).

Of course you know I am not bragging, I am just excited (and maybe nervous because I tend to get in over my head... and then woodshed it the night before! haha). You wanna hear something nuts? I was talking to Jerry tonight and I asked if we could do "No Self Control" or any Peter Gabriel song from the times when he played with him. He said he doesn't sing that one (he does sing "On The Air" with the Tony Levin Band) but then he said "I wonder if Peter will be around. Maybe he'll come and sing it. I know it sounds unlikely but that's the crazy sort of thing that happens sometimes". Can you imagine if PG came by the booth and sang "Back in NYC" and "No Self Control"? Don't hold your breath, the chances are real slim. But, there are usually some surprises at these shows that you'd never think. In 2004 I showed Stevie Wonder the I-Map and went back and forth playing it in SampleTank with him in front of a crowd of who knows how many during the last half hour of the show. That was a major high point. Big smiles everywhere. Surreal as you can imagine! But, Peter Gabriel showing up to do classic tunes like that impromptu???? Man.... that would be too cool for words.

Jon Anderson would have sat in actually but he'll be in Paris during the NAMM show. I did ask if he wanted to play with us again. That too was a big high point when Nick and I played with him in 2005. So, every year I try to do something crazy just for kicks or if we just happen to be lucky. Good thing that IK and SR are magnets for musicians. Some of the best in the world come around and many of them you didn't even know use our stuff. Like Pete Townshend saying he's a fan. That's just weird! But 8) Who knows though. He or some of the other well known musicians might even read this forum. I better be careful what I say. ;)

Great stuff Dave! I'm buggin' just reading this. I hope you can post a vid of your playing Jerry, Danny and Mark.

Have a super show!
