Hi Paul. I can't get the KGP to load into ManyGuitar. What am I doing wrong? The presets appear to be for ManyStation only.

The Presets presently included are for ManyStation only. If you read about it on our FreeZone Page it will tell you that. However the Soundsets will load into ManyGuitar and ManyOne, you just need to make your own Presets, which is very easy to do in these instruments via the Wizards etc.
If you cannot see the soundsets in ManyGuitar then I would think it is because the folder structure may not be right on your system. ManyGuitar can only see 1 folder deep into your soundset folder so make sure the KGP folder sits directly inside the soundsets with no extra folders. (ManyOne improved on this by being able to go multi folder depths and this will come to ManyGuitar in a future update.)
Cheers
Paul

Thanks, Paul. I'll check that. I did locate the soundsets from inside ManyGuitar and it said they were incompatable. I'll try it again.

I fooled around with this free piano a bit last night in Wusik 3. It sounds very musical and useful. I did get a few unexpected percussive sounds in some presets, but I was fingerpicking a synth guitar through a GR-20, and strange glitches do happen with a guitar synth if you don't play clean. I haven't heard exactly this sort of blip with other soundsets though. I wonder what it could be?
Anyway, the piano is very nice. Thanks!
John

Is it like a little click sound at the beginning of the samples or something? Try increasing the attack in the volume envelope just a tiny bit, and see if that does anything.

No it's more like a snare hit with reverb on it. It only happens when I hit a note vigorously but not clean, but it doesn't always happen. It probably is something that only occurs with a guitar synth. It's a GK-3 pickup and it doesn't always track right. It is weird though, because usually you just get a little glitchy wrong note, not a percussive sound.
Are there any percussive layers in the soundset?
I am sure it is not a problem for most users. And heck, it was free!
Thanks,
john

No, it's not that there are percussive layers in the soundset. And if it's only happening occassionally, it's not something inherent in the samples.

I have that "reverbed snare" problem a lot in wusik3. It often happens when I try to play two notes very short after one another. Especially with sets that seem to use the diskstreaming.
If you want to try to reproduce it: program a melody in a sequencer, and then play on top of that with a controler.

Hmm, have you mentioned this to William? I haven't used Wusik 3 very much. I'll try the Kawaii in Manystation. That might work better.
thanks,
John

So this happens with other soundsets too? or?Kyran wrote:I have that "reverbed snare" problem a lot in wusik3. It often happens when I try to play two notes very short after one another. Especially with sets that seem to use the diskstreaming.

It may be a problem with WusikEngine latest builds and not the samples then.

The percussive sound doesn't happen in Manystation, so it must be a problem in Wusik 3.

He does have access to a copy of the piano, but as we determined, I think it not the piano as it works in ManyStation fine here for Greg and I and others.
I'll point this out to William about the V3 latest build.

Paul,
It's hard to tell exactly what is going on. I don't get this sound with other pianos in Wusik 3. I get it with the Amber Piano and Gospel Jam presets in the Kawaii, though. It happens somewhat randomly, but it seems to have something to do with having several notes ringing and then sliding something. On a guitar synth, if you slide your fingers when you are playing a piano soundfont, you get a quick succession of notes. If I hold a an open string "C" chord at the "D" position, i.e. two frets higher than it is supposed to be (it's not a proper chord, but Neil Young uses this in "Sugar Mountain"), sound all the notes from the 5th string to the second, and quickly slide the formation up to the "E" position, it almost always happens. There is a loud "whack" which spikes the meters up.
So it seems to involve having some notes ringing and then doing something quick. Maybe it does have something to do with disk streaming. The presets seem to take longer to load in Manystation than in Wusik 3. My computer is not so robust either, it's an Athlon 1800+, and the disk I have the soundsets on is not so fast.
edit: It is definitely the disk streaming. I turned it off and the "whack" went away. Turn it back on, and it comes back. Manytone is off the hook!
Thanks,
John
