Time is so fluid here in this part of the world living in between GMT and EST -- like being stuck in the twilight zone :hihi:

Not at all mate -- It's been a GREAT idea and this can be done again no doubt, with refinements and so on based upon what we learn about this one. :tu:

I for one really appreciate the balls you have shown in being so creative with the contests! :)

I think I speak for most of us in this regard ;)

I am confused about file nummber 4. It appears to be many overlapping parts jumbled into one track. This cannot be right.

File 4 isn't actually a complete work, Beardo. It is literally a bunch of clips listed one after another. Better to think of it as a bunch of MIDI loops.

Hope this helps...

So I read but they are not separated into clips but appear as one overlapping jumble when imported into FL Studio, Sonar or eXT. I cannot use them like this. I don't know what the intended instruments are.

Does FL Studio differentiate between Type 0 and Type 1 MIDI files? You may to tell it explicitly that these are type 1. I believe you have to tell Sonar the type. Not sure at all about eXT.

Also, I don't think they are marked with intended instruments. You can make them whatever instrument you want.

Thanks but I don't believe Fruity differentiates Type O and Type 1. I just found that Overture and Tracktion resolve these into separate clips. I would rather explore these in Sonar or Fruity than those two. I am still painfully slow with Tracktion. So if anyone can tell me how to import file 4 as separate clips into FL Studio, eXT or Sonar, I would really appreciate it.

Bearded, I got the same issue with Sonar when I tried to load File 4. I loaded the file into Reason, then saved it as a MIDI file and that file loaded into Sonar properly. Perhaps you could do the same with Tracktion.

If not, I can send you the file that I saved from Reason.

Onos he got a gun!!11
:D Well you shouldn't have any troubles using that if it's open in Logic.

I do apologize for the 'looniness' for my selection submission, but it wasn't made for GM. (ie: MSGS POS crap)

When you import midi into FL it imports each channel as a different color within the piano roller.

Alternatively, you can just right-click the little red numbered boxes for the channels you don't want when you import.

At least in FL6 anyways.

Hope it helps.

I think there might be certain aspects of this contest theme that tend to have an unspecified level of suckiness :x :tantrum:

What I meant is that it might hurt sometimes when you see how somebody has "mutilated" your composition...
File 2 caught my attention, but it needs IMO a drastical transformation. :-o
Obviously James Alan Nguyen's put quiet some work in making it and I will "undo" a lot of that...

Cheers,

Max... .. . :P

PS : Scoops, I'm sure Mrs.Scoops must be very happy since you have the monthly contest to let out your crazy idea's ! :hihi:
