thanks, COOkie, but I HAVE audio hijack on the mac os x side...but I do all of my music/audio work in windows (too much legacy software to dump, and no wavelab for mac)

Total Recorder? I've never used it to capture audio from DVD, only streaming audio, but according to the FAQ it's possible. It adds itself as an additional audio driver, and captures anything between the application you're using and your soundcard. Dirt cheap, as well.
