AFAIK it's the only way to do it. If there is another way I'd like to know as well.hoffy wrote:Thanks... But i'm pretty sure i managed to do this without f**king around with .nfo files- it was just a matter of clicking somewhere/something on the browser...
will investigate the nfo's tho. Or just delete all the shit i dont want

HI
I just copy and pasted all the usefull hints in this thread - I am an ocassional FL user and like the poster coming from Reason have found that the 'pattern' asapect of FL can be a little confusing.
It is a shame that practically all the music app's we see are under represented with hints and tips documentation: not to mention even basic 'how to use me' tuitorials.
You can't even download the video tutorials at FL anymore!
Nice post.
Flipper.

Yes I shallgrymmjack wrote:that sounds interesting. will you share?Lagrange wrote:For the truly lazy, I've made a keyboard mouse app that allows you to use an assignable key to drag and drop file (press key over file to pick up, drag to destination, press again to drop file)... can you freeze with edison?

yes but not really. freeze is a workflow thing, edison doesn't really do freeze but it is dead easy to insert it in an effects channel and record stuff.

Guys check out the tool I just finished. I call it Edison Vsampler Helper. It allows Vsampler to receive the true/original detection slice points from FL's internal slice regime. It also works acts really quick as detection validation. (In this case I used REX, BUT this will work on WAVs with embedded slice points).

So I find a Rex Loop in FL.

I then drag this into FL Slicer and Edison. (just to show you the slice point detection is exact.. so far anyway). So lets drag from Edison to Vsampler now...

Oop! What happened to the slices? I dragged into Vsampler and no auto detection (Again you have to imagine this is a WAV and not a REX as Vsampler CAN detect slices in REX files BUT NOT slices in WAV files!!!)
Ok so logic says I should run slice detection in Vsampler right?

Ok there... But how can I quickly tell the slices are exactly in the same place as the original??

Welcome my Edison Vsampler Slice Helper tool. With a press of an assignable key Edison flys over to the Vsampler slice window while turning transparent and resizes. You are actually looking at Edison put in transparent mode, the length of the samples layered precisely using a special mathmatical measurement calculation!! If you look closely you can see that there was an error in the detection (missing slice). This could have easily have been overlooked or exported in error! Plus it really cuts down the amount of time it takes to meticulously find every slice point. I simply add a slice or move the points to where I want and then I can use FL's pattern to play Vsamplers samples. SO EASY..
There are also several cool advantages.
- When I move Vsampler around the transparent Edison window moves with it like it has become part of Vsampler's gui.
- Not only does this work for Drum parts but also transient deficient audio like strings (HARD TO DETECT QUICKLY & ACCURATLY).
- I can still view the waveform in Spectral mode in Edison giving more possibilities.
- Zoom works perfectly!
- I can quickly transfer multiple samples over to Vsampler quickly and accurately (no more I wish I could play more than 1 MIDI channel simultaneously).
- When done I press another key and Edsion goes back to full mode!
This can be done for any and all plugins NOT JUST VSAMPLER and EDISON. Think of any 2 or more plugins that can be combined to help out each other and it can be done!! The possibilites are endless.. This is just one tiny aspect of what I'm working on right now.. Simply amazing..

If anyone wants my to try a combination let me know and I will give it a shot! For example lets say you have a sampler or instrument that does not allow for drag n drop but does have an import (from file) function, I may be able to make it drag and drop... Just more FL fun for ya..

Sorry for the choppiness. It's harder than you think to record dual monitors realtime!!

NFX at WarBeats ( http://www.warbeats.com ) made a great tutorial on FLStudio templates. I really learned a lot from this and his other excellent tutorials.
edit: should have templates instead of projects.
