btw, is it my imagination or was this a "hit and run" where the op starts a fairly controversial thread and runs and hides? Or is he coming back?
I wasn't about to come back but anything for you....

Here is a recording from "Fooling Betty", recorded live with real instruments (it's dry, no mix, no reverb):

Check out this YouTube demo as well:

You might also hear the AXE-FX on the next Pat Metheny album,
he just purchased two of them...

Yikes! $1,749.95!! At this price point, one can make a lot of decisions. I agree with Hink about the hardware bit. Personally, I love the idea of running a real amp straight in; capturing the tone from that amp (preferably clean); and modding it in the host. It saves CPU cycles and captures the nuances of an amp. IMO, almost every amp sounds different.

It's great to see that there are many hardware companies now catering to the HDD community by offering the proper connectors in their offerings. In fact, some companies have gone as far to offer a complete line that facilitates DSP-type connections. Some guys like the Line6 stuff; other cats might go for a Fender.

In many ways, the hardware guys have caught up. Some of the new amps with DSP stuff (i.e. phrase sampler; drum machine; amp modeling) are doing very well in the marketplace. Let's face it's a much better solution than setting up a PC; picking up a card; etc, etc. For a few hundred dollars, one can snag a good little amp, that does a lot of stuff. Please bear in mind, not everyone is producing a large project. The kiddos who are buying their first guitar don't all run out and buy GR3 or AT2.

Personally, I'll opt for a Pro-line amp with the right connectors (i.e. for the soundcard) any time! :D

Good question.
These days I lurk a lot on the TGP (The Gear Page)forum
http://www.thegearpage.net
There are a lot of great guitar players on that forum that I've come to know and they highly recommended the AXE-FX
especially Scott Peterson who turned a lot of people on to this thing: (see reviews below)

You can demo the AXE-FX in your own home/studio for 30 days.
If not happy you can return it for a full refund.
I have mine for 3 weeks but there is no way I'm returning it!

By the way, there is a 3-4 month waiting list for the AXE-FX.
You can skip the list if you pay the full price, if you do go on the list you get a $400 discount coupon so you can get it for $1350.... I know this is a lot of money but it's still cheaper then a nice boutique guitar amplifier.

Hink wrote:actually what you said hibidy is complete, utter hogwash  You know it's possible for someone to know what they like and dislike without living up to your approval...really I'm trying to find a way to put this nicely but it's not easy...but then again I'm not going to lower myself to your standards...see yah
ok, don't

I will not debate anything with anybody, I just want you all to know that the magic box is out there.
That is where MY problem started.......if hink or someone else can't understand that, I'd suggest buggering off.

Glad you came back, but if you as the second post said, sounds like an infomercial. AAMAF, I checked the "joined" date first to see if it was just spam!

So, an AC/DC song about "if I (me) want blood" is supposed to my lesson here? Not very bright.......kinda like your spam-a-thon post that you will not debate with anyone:smack:

As far as the rest, who cares........I've nothing against the box, just the sub-average guitar player spamming with this "I'm great and you guys suck" tude.......

Just my 2cents.........

LM, I am daring to hope that hibidy was just kidding

Nope, not kidding, I'm pissed about it, cannot understand how to make it more clear.

before I posted anything, there were posts from others............so I certainly didn't start it. However the shift (as usual) has focused on me.........

I do believe however, that had the shitty "I will not debate anything with anybody" part had not been posted by the OP, I most certainly would not have said one f**king word.

that's all it takes hibidy...tell me are you in the habit of giving your power away so easily? Your buttons that easy to push?

I don't even know what that means.......however, since I was not the first one to be upset by this post, I really don't know how I became the focus.

It's not like you are shy to voice YOUR opinions

Post

If it's really that important to everyone.........fine........I in no way think I'm special and I apologize AND am sorry for upseting anyone. I just can't understand how people who are sub-par players/songwriters can make posts like this and not be flamed.

btw, there is NOTHING that special or spectacular about those tones!

what's to understand? You are the only one to attack someones playing in this thread...my opinions expressed are not judgemental of my fellow artists and tbh the fact you don't see the difference explains a lot...

edit...you talk about cowardly...well what do you call it when someoneattacks another's playing without posting their own music for review?

Well, I can understand what you are saying (though I'm pretty sure you don't understand me at all)

I hear too many people arguing (actually, I call it whining) about "this is good, this is not".......and they put out some shitty, lame song or licks.......which to me qualifies being an idiot.

I keep trying to say it, and it keeps being ignored, but the key phrase here is (and I'll quote it again)
I will not debate anything with anybody, I just want you all to know that the magic box is out there.
To me this is begging for a flammin'.........but I guess I'm wrong.

okay point taken...but what gives you license to judge what is lame and what is not for therest of us? Then to say it pisses you off is tad silly, no? Here's a hint...don't listen to the clips. TBH I rarely listen to clips, I more interested in what people have to say. If Gary Moore himself was playing clips (I like GM quite a bit) I still wouldn't use them to judge whether an amp, or a sim or guitar was good for me. I really dont think anything besides my trying it is a good way of judging something. So why use it to judge someone negatively? It doesn't make sense....there's a lot of music here I dont like, made by a lot of people I do like. I'm not going to insult them because of my taste.

As for your complaint about his way of stating his stance, can you not see that is a cross between unbridled enthusiasm and tongue and cheek. Oddly enough that angers you as well, and that is giving the power to anger away far too easily imho...;)
