At least, on my P4 upon silent parts the CPU went to 100% and stayed there untill I bypassed the plugin.
So an improved version of V0.9 would be very welcome
I can't check the denormal-prob, because I am on Reaper (with integrated denormal-protection) on an AMD.
Unfortunately, I overwrote the source of v0.9 during development, and I lost the overview over the changes I made :(

But anyway I want to make a complete rework of the plugin for more authentic sound, because I deviated too much from the original circuit already.

Meanwhile you may try a descendant of the plugin, a steroidphaser for "moving up" the sound; 8 stages each with an own LFO, spread in stereo.

Hi,

Inserting the normalizer before the phaser cured the problem.

That new steriodphaser is lovely, thanks for sharing it :)

Wow, been looking for a TD phaser for mellotron for ages and this is it - well almost...

Tried both v0.9 & v1.0 and compared it to all the other software phasers out there - and this is the best imo to get that TD Phaedra sound.

Here are my settings: rate - very low, feedback, effects full, resonance about 90%, modulation = manual (so I can automate it) and most importantly - Mono. The Mono was to get the effect of the sound collapsing from wide stereo to narrow mono and corssing over. It's this effect that's so distinctive and missing from the other wobble only phasers.

Mellotron sounds supplied by Mtron String2.

Had two problems here:-

The sound was the biased was towards the right speaker???

Running under CubaseSX3 on a the latest Dell XPS laptop - it was using way too much cpu, so couldn't quite manage the Altiverb feed into the phaser, but it sounds great with Cubases stock ReverbB!

If this was released as a commerical plugin - you'd have my cash straight away! As a freebie I can live with the problems, but it would be great to have this improved.

This deserves a bump...Just listened to my first test of the TD Phaser (not sure which version, probably 0.9)...I had it placed on a Moog Modular V bass sequence, an M-Tron track and a lead synth preset from Benedict's Castor (part of Synth Studio Pack I). The results were fairly subtle, but really made things sound alive. I ran the lead through Big Tick's Dual Delay first, then into TDPhaser and it's lovely. The track's nowhere near finished enough to share but definitely helped capture that TD feel. I'm not even sure I was aware they used a phaser so much. I think I just took a lot of that FX as being filter modulation, running their Mellotron into one of the filters on the big Moogs and sweeping it, followed up with delay.

Cool stuff.

I'll second that bump and add that ya may wanna try WOK's steroidphaser as well :tu:

Would be interested to know what settings you used? I found mono gave the best stereo 0 point nyquist effect.

Infact listening to TD some more, especially semblance on the phaedra album made me realise that it's the combination of panning and phasing that makes it sound so special.

Would be interested in other peoples view on those classic TD sounds and any news of development on this phaser too!

If I find the time I will improve the pluging, last but not least because of the high CPU-consumption.

The question is (because I don't have money for christmas presents): how many of you would spend money for it and how much?

£40 if it was perfect - I have yet to see anything with the same effect - although the virtual string machine phaser is also very good - but not available as a fx. £25 if you could improve the cpu.

Well, it's a lack of time and energy from my side
And I did not have the need for the plugin because I got one of these for a fair price on ebay:
