Wow almost 100 :o votes it seems most people think it's going to be Atmoshpere 2. I actually think some sort of a Cinematic product would be ideal for Spectrasonics. They clearly have a good spread of Hollywood users. I guess there might not be that much profit in it but it seems like something they might branch into if not necessarily as one of their top products.

Two things I really want to see...

1. A simpler install process. (Things hopefully will be easier with the new product/s)

2. A very thick Logic like manual. :hihi:

I love the videos (excellent quality, well paced and very detailed) and I think they are probably better than a printed version but I would still be interested in a full manual to read away from the PC.

I'm really hoping for atmosphere.

The first announcements they make will *have* to be UB, in-house developed versions of Atmosphere and Trilogy, to take care of existing owners who can't use these instruments on *any* recent Mac. That is an absolute priority. So you can expect those, in whatever form and with whatever expanded content they take.

Not really. It runs the plugin in rosetta while still running your host natively. It's better than running the whole project in rosetta, but it still makes atmosphere use WAY more CPU than it should.

They pretty much HAVE to update trilogy and atmosphere to REAL, NATIVE, intel mac solutions or lose a huge portion of their customers.

Yes, they released an ugly, clunky, unsatisfactory workaround that at least meant some people could use Atmo/Tril - but it's not the proper solution, it's a temp workaround.

They had to do something, because there users feel let down about the length of time there have not been UB solutions for the instruments they bought. Spectrasonics were unfortunate and were caught at a very bad time and the UB thing has hit them pretty hard. I think everyone will be relieved when Atmo2 and Tril2 are running natively on Macs, not least the Specs... ;)

Wow a lot of good stuff coming out... I'll be broke next year.

:)

I predict

a) some sort of next generation vocal creation VSTi based on samples, the blending of samples, and time-stretching, with a fairly easy to use UI.

*or*

b) A new type of drum machine - more flexible with regards to the actual drum part than loop-based RMX. Something like EZDrummer with smarter features and human feel drum parts.

I'm thinking it's some sort of time travel machine equipped with Bose headphones. You set the dial to the time you wish to travel to and within minutes you are seated behind a keyboard such as a Mellotron, prophet 5, memorymoog and so on.

That Eric does have a bit of the "mad scientist" in him you know!8)

I would guess it's a Nexus rival with more edit options and sample import, expansions etc

I voted for the cinematic module, but this would be my absolute #1 vote indeed. An instrument like Nexus(or Atmosphere) that offers an IMMEDIATE blast of inspiration to create music based on sounds alone? I'll take that anyday over the 1000 modulation parameter synths that seems more designed for the tweaker than the producer who just wants to make music.

I'd rather see an instrument designed exclusively for the dance scene covering everything from classic disco to europop, hip hop(both old and new school), trance/techno, and everything else in between. I'm sure that's asking for a lot, but there's nothing out there that really covers this balance well.

Think of it as combining a bunch of emu-modules and...

Well there's the dimension pro soundset, but that's not covering the latest sounds. Besides I have too many emu rack modules and Proteus X expansions already.

Hmmm... Being a PC user I was unaware of this issue. Maybe they are planning a whole new engine to house their existing instruments, and it will take care of this problem for mac users? It could be one explanation for why they let that go so long...

There is absolutely no question that they're developing a new engine of some kind, that will support Atmosphere or Trilogy in some way. However, I doubt this is STRICTLY an update to Atmo/Trilo. Keep in mind this has been in development for years! A super-powered, sample-based software workstation seems likely.
