Planet ugh, have you read my post above, that explains things up? Cheers, MoniKe
MoniKe wrote:Dear Users, I'm MoniKe from Wusik. I'm the one responsible for the emails, and I'm sorry for the problems. I just took the job of helping William with email tasks amongst other things. From what I see, I did something wrong when sending the emails, and this won't happen again.
We have created a news-list using a script that comes with the server we rent. So if you still receive any email from us, it should be from this system, and it does offer a way to unsubscribe. What we did was to delete ALL emails and started the list all over again, now with only 400 registered emails from users who actually subscribed, from where I can check. So we should be clear of any spam accidents from now on.
I really hope you can understand that I'm new to this email system, and it was my fault that this has happened again. As I already told William about my concerns with the email database.
Also, for those who don't know me, I'm in charge of the Wusik Magazine design for some years now. I also did the very first Wusikstation V1 Skin. Just in case you are wondering who am I. And yes, I'm William's Wife. ;-]
If you still have any issues with emails, please, contact us by using our Support/Login area at Wusik.com
Keep in mind that we are not Mass-Spammers like those Viagra companies. We only sent an email to our user-database. But as I said, this has been corrected earlier today with the new system that I'm in charge now.
Cheers, MoniKe

What I don't understand is this: when somebody unsubscribe from a newsletter I thought that the email adress was deleted, not only removed from the subscribers list. This way you can avoid such "accidents".

Did you even READ what she wrote? Or are you just spouting off for the sake of throwing a fit? She said that the NEW system will have a way to unsubscribe automatically. Of course the old emails won't have the link because that's not what she said.
Sheesh. Some people act like it's the end of the world when they get emails they don't want. Threatening legal action and all kinds of useless things. Just block the email address and move on. Or actually give them a chance since Monike said it should be fixed now. Some people expect things to be fixed yesterday.

Well, this stinks. I am a member of the club and I don't get all these tons and tons of e-mails to keep up with what's happening...only a few here or there, and not too often at all.
I'm jealous.

Yes, but Monike just said it was fixed. She can't fix what happened yesterday(figure of speech).MaxSynths wrote:A year of SPAM is a lot of time, no yesterday...

Monike, thanks for swiftly attending to this matter. Id like to say that Ive always received great support from Wusik on every matter except the spam, and I wish you the best.
Just goes to show that a public whine on KVR goes further than several emails to the company itself!
Thanks Meffy for your work on this, it is much appreciated.
koolkeys, youre welcome to your opinion, but I dont need your frankly patronising advice on how to deal with this. The fact is that they were keeping peoples details on file, long after they had been assured that they were deleted. That to me was the issue, more than the actual mail. How easy it is to filter out the mail is neither here nor there.
Anyhoo, thank you all for the resolution to this and for keeping it civil.

Patronizing? Not hardly.
It's not as if Wusik is sharing your info or selling it. It's just junk mail. Spam at worst. Not the end of the world.

koolkeys, youre not going to convince me of anything here, Im very well versed in the security implications. Its not Wusik im worried about, but whatever bots may or may not be trawling their servers. They have already shown that they dont have a firm grasp over their automated mailers. I made the mistake of using my work address to register, as I do with reputable companies.
If you feel the need to keep pushing this barrow, then PM me. As far as im concerned, the matter is resolved.
