i was hopeing they would finish fixing 4 before they release 5.

Post

4? What's wrong with it? I mean, they're never perfect, but I have to agree with vader: this is the best, most stable Cubase yet, and I've been using it 10 years...

What will be announced is a secret. We can announce several things: a new Wavelab, Sequel, Cubase, Nuendo, VST Instruments, new hardware etc. The only thing that I can say now already, Steinberg has it's 25 birthday now !

Please have a little patient for the moment, and wait till we (make) our announcements at the NAMM show.

Start counting your spare change...

But take note he said "can"... so... maybe not.
what he's saying is "We can announce several things : a new Wavelab, Sequel, Cubase, Nuendo, VST Instruments, new hardware etc". So new versions of all those .... which is cool ;)

I'm just really interested what the "secret" is! :D

english as a second language to introduce rumors is so..... not right
I think this is a case of bad english - evaluated I think he meant to say could in place of can. What he's saying is we have all these great existing products that it could be, but for now it's a secret.

This contradicts PG's own answer to one of my Q's at the Steinberg boards. He said that WL7 won't be out for a while... Guess Steinberg really did the old "STFU" thing again... as usual.

C5 is confirmed already... I hoped they'd drop the media bay. Didn't happen. Time to save up some money indeed.

Dude, I hate to seem contrary, but I'm really enjoying MediaBay. It's saved me a lot of time on projects, especially as I'm not really using Vegas anymore; MediaBay provided me with a rather elegant solution to searching and auditioning audio files. Plus I think, with a little time, the track preset features will be useful as well. I say develop it further!

I say drop that CPU hog, but that'S just me.

I just wish Steinberg would "offer" grace periods. I really wanted to go for C4 in February. Now it's kinda useless to do so I guess. Guess I have to sit that one out as well.

Then again, I feel the SX1 users... chances are that they will be dropped from the upgrade plan, as it happened for the VST5 users. And they have to pay 499bucks mayhaps.

*sigh* I should finally get my page running for offering engineering jobs. I seriously need money.

Define the word "he"...

Post

'he', a person and/or robot designed to bake cakes and kill.

...that may or may not announce the release of a new product that everyone will despise and ridcule. :hihi:

SEQUEL3! *cough*

What's this now? A Trilogy? A... saga? What is a sequel of a sequel of a sequel? A continuation?

*head-a-splode*

My guesses....

Cubase 5 - expected.

Halion 4 - new Halion has been in the pipeline for a while.

MIDI Interface - new audio interfaces have no MIDI inputs, leaving Steiny MIDI interfaceless.

Post

And Wavelab 7 - even though PG said "won't happen" and vanished back to coding again.

It all makes sense... 2 years are over again for most of the products. And yeah, Halion 4 IS overdue, but I don't expect much more than Kontakt 3. Nothing can beat that. Kontakt only needs to be able to load Halion roms, then I totally ditch that 'tard for good. Even though I started on this one.

*sniff* ...good times... until I found out "sucker, no chance to use KEYSWITCHES with GIGA unless you get Hal3 - and even then you have to be lucky that it's even working". I lost part of my innocent Steiny-Soul to NI Kontakt 2 that time...

I don't really see what they can do with Halion to make it rival Kontakt 2 and 3's scripting stuff anyways. If it was down to me, I'd reduce the price of Halion and bundle it in with Cubase 5.

I'd also re-instate the Instrument Rack into Cubase LE4/5 and release it as fairly unobtrusive nagware to buy an upgraded version, but that's just me.
