Paul, love the music you do. Did not realize you were getting into ZebraCM too. I did some presets 129 for it. If your interested in checking them out, you can download them from KVR Banks & Patches page up top, the scroll down for Zebra. Try the MC ZebraCM set3 out.
Hers the link to that page.

Just ...another ...... teeeeeeeny .....little ..... BUMP!

I think in the next comp, it might be good for participants to upload, in addition to their complete track, and text file stating what they have used, a 30 to 40 second clip of their track .... like at some point where they feel the track is showing off its full flavour and capacity .... or a 30 -40 second remix would be acceptable.

I kinda wonder if folks are willing to make time to listen to what amounts, in the case of the current comp, to around half an hour of listening in order to cast a fair and informed vote.

Any thoughts?

:) I think you've got to balance the laziness of people not bothering to listen with the laziness of the people mustering up the bother of entering the comp.

And I do have at least two songs completely made with Oatmeal.
'Dark Night'
http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6763005
11 instances of Oatmeal plus some Ariesverb

'Relax'
http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6483979
5 instances of Oatmeal plus some Ariesverb, Reaverbate and Bloodoverdrive (distortion) (just a looped ambience thing)

You may be right Jay Sherman, but then again when we consider that this comp nearly fizzled out, and a degree of bad feeling hung around for a while, I think getting 6 entries was not a bad result really.

I listened to your stuff and thought it was well worthy of an entry ... if only you weren't too lazy to upload it to the folder :hihi:

Personally, I hope you enter a track for the next comp, like one created specifically for the comp .... and that goes for everyone else as well. I dont have a huge great prob with people entering tracks they composed earlier, but I kinda like to think theres a togetherness .. ie while I'm tweaking and squeaking something together, others are involved in the same process at the same time.

Anyway, if theres a decent amount of support for this kind of comp, regardless of the value of the prize, then we can run them regularly ... and if there are only half a dozen entries for each comp, then so be it.

As it stands, I hear no objection to an 'oatmeal only' comp, so I expect that will be the next one. I wonder if it's worth contacting the makers of oatmeal and see if there's anything they can offer as a prize in exchange for the love we're gonna give?? :)

... Oh ... and before I hit submit, .... MORE votes please!!!

one idea that i also had is maybe besides only the one synth, allowing one FSU or multi-fx plug of the artist's choice. then maybe people wouldn't feel SO limited, and then it might be of interest to a larger group of us. then again, it kinda messes up the whole concept of the comp anyway... just an idea :)

I dunno, on one hand, when it comes to appreciating what an artist can do with one synth, a limit on fx can force an honest presentation. However, it makes it a bit 'dry' for the listener. I certainly found it frustrating getting my track sounding 'finished' with the limits in place ... far more limiting than being limited to one synth!

.... on the other hand, isn't there a line that we may cross with the use of effects, that some of the sounds on show might be 'produced' by the effects to the extent that the synth becomes little more than a trigger? ... like the butterfly in chaos theory which causes a hurricane??

... between those hands, a more balanced view ... I think if the artist uploads/makes available detailed info re. what has been used to create the track, then we can judge for ourselves who has made the most of their one synth .... so I wouldn't have any serious objection to FSU or multifx ... provided everything was fair in that those chosen fx were freeware and available to all.... having said that tho, there's that "what about mac users" issue again :-o ....

.... Its tough, like its not my fault mac users are limited to what freeware they can use ... but still dont want to actively exclude KVR members who use macs.
... however, its a bit like people who go to feed ducks with their leftover bread ... but they despise the seagulls who come around for a bit of the action. Me? .. I feed both cos as for as I'm concerned they're equally hungry.
Others? .. they go to great effort to throw the bread as close to the ducks as possible, even hand feed them in order to deny the seagulls.

...To abandon future comps because of the mac issue tho, would be like binning the bread and starving the ducks to ensure the seagulls starve as well!

It would be cool to hear some positive comments from mac-lads re. how they can be included tho, or suggestions re. a future comp which gives them an advantage, but not one which is insurrmountable by PCers.

Hmmm.... ever noticed when anyone attempts to explore common ground between Win-drossers and Mackin-tossers, instead of a 'my ones bigger than your one' flamewar, that it all goes strangely quiet?? :hihi:
