Third take on this is done

I've fooled around with the stuff mentioned above. new kick, new bass guitar and other various additions.

I agree with the poster above, but disagree regarding the drums. I like it a lot, and it fits perfectly for this kind of House/Lounge.

The Electric Piano, however, is a little too loud. The other elements are good as they are. Is this trumpet programmed? Man, I'd like to make this kind of music, but I'm crap at chords, instruments arrangement, etc. So, I'm making Electro!

Nice effort. It will have a place at my iPod!

EDIT: didn't see that there was another mixes. I'll try it ASAP.

hey k-bee

the instrumentation on this is sooooo lush... I always get a nice fuzzy feeling when the bassline kicks in. Actually I was humming it in the shower this morning, so that's gotta be good! It's a seriously top tune, so well done.

Drums are good now and everything is sitting nicely. Do you think though that the bass might be slightly too upfront? It sounds just a tad agressive to me. Just turning it down a touch might solve it.

That's just a minor gripe. It's so good to hear some sassy soulful house in the music cafe!

You know I wondered a lot about that myself after ditching the DirectBass Free for a SampleTank fingered bass. It does have a different character and I cranked up the low gain a whole lot for this one. I chose to leave it for now but I know what you mean about the volume levels.

No, it was the first. Didn't see there was a new mix.

3rd is much more balanced. Piano sits perfectly in the mix and interact nicely with the bass. Really nice track, and I insist there wasn't nothing wrong with the drums, but if the KVR gods say so...

TBH, I like the first more, because it respect the chill character of the track, with a not so agressive snare/clap at the 2 and 4 beat.

Really cool track, anyways. The piano playing/programming is superb!

I'd say I'm pretty much satisfied with how this has ended up and all advice from you people replying has definitely helped and made the track way better than it initially was.

Only just had time to get to this. Personally I liked the first version the most, but only because I don't like percussion that's right in your face. The last version is better balanced apart from that.

It's funny how opinions vary on the 3 different versions. When I presented my first take everybody said the drums were generic and boring so I changed them. Now loads of people say the liked the old version

I suppose that's why they always do so many damn mixes when releasing 12" singles. Something for everybody. I'm not doing a heavy metal version though

Very nice track, I just don't like the bass sound (listen to first and third versions). To me a smooth deep bass would fit better than a "real" bass sound.

An electric bass sound was always my first choice. I wanted to make a track that was essentially rooted in both disco and 70s jazz-funk but with a contemporary edge to it. I tried some synth basses out as well but I think they changed the overall feel of the track. My initial idea was also to have a moog'ish type sound doing the lead (now done by the muted trumpet) but that sounded way wrong and was ditched right away.
