GM midi files vs. iMap midi files. General Midi kick, snare and hats are octave below what the iMap ones are. We did the iMap an octave above because if you think about it, don't you want to hit the main kit a little closer to the center of your keyboard? Otherwise banging on it all the way to the left could be lopsided. Anyway, it is a mapping format difference. If you want to have extended iMap work directly with midi files then you'll need to use iMap midi files which we also have.jensa wrote:A quick question. Do everybody else also have to transpose the midifiles we got, an octave upwards in EZ Player Pro to get them to use the right drums and cymbals? If no, what could it be? I'm running Kontakt 3.5, using IMAP Extended.
Thankful for any help.

Those same grooves will be available for free in iMap this week, just to know. You can alternatively use the existing GM format loops with OWD or Drum Masters when put into GM mode - the manual explains how to do it with a simple key switch.

Ah ok, so the files I got in my account at Esoundz was only in GM and not in IMAP? That explains the difference.Squids wrote:GM midi files vs. iMap midi files. Yeah, just for now. We're adding in the iMap ones this week, still free.jensa wrote:Ah ok, so the files I got in my account at Esoundz was only in GM and not in IMAP? Yeah but shouldn't EZ Player Pro remap for you,I mean that's what it does (among other things) right? The problem is when using EZP Pro and selecting either IMAP standard or extended as the output midi format,it still is 1 octave off & needs to be raised to work properly.Squids wrote:GM midi files vs. iMap midi files. Hello all,
I registered last night for the EZPlayer Pro download and received a thank you notice for registering and was told that the support manager would contact me shortly. I didn't hear anything today so I thought I'd ask here if there is something else I need to do. I have an account with downloadablesoundz and I've checked everywhere but no links to EZPlayerPro. I would appreciate any assistance you might be able to offer.
Thank yoo,
10-2-1

Hi 10-2-1
Hang on in there, waiting on a response from Esoundz myself on a query but would warrant there is nothing to worry on, they will get back to you very soon. Things should be with you shortly (and well worth the wait)!

Thanks Don,
I just found out that Allen was out of the office today. Man, they communicate even on days off! Sonic Reality, esoundz, downloadablesoundz, truly is a musicians company. They understand how impatient we are at times.
Thanks,

Yeah Allen is coming in tomorrow and will take care of you guys. In the meantime, the 1,000 midi files are already updated with both GM and iMap now. So all you have to do, even if you previously downloaded it, is redownload it again and the zip shoudl contain both! How's that for speedy service?
For those waiting, Allen will get back to you. But, if you have Ocean Way Drums or Drum Masters and the associated serial number then you can enter the data here to be approved for your free EZ Player Pro! www.sonicreality.com/ezplayerpro
By the way, I am working on something like "Squids Premium iMap Beats" (working title hehe) and part of that will also be FREE, yes I said FREE once again! Isn't all this free stuff just fun and give the warm fuzzies?

So... hm. Now the file structure in the zip file is a bit strange.
Rock
Progressive
Jazz
IMAP
GM
Funk HH RB
Country
Blues
Should we use the IMAP folder or the top folder... but then GM is also at the top. And Jazz is missing subfolders and midifiles if you go down the IMAP path. That counts for Country also...
Something is weird...
Besides... I still don't really understand what EZPlayer Pro is capable of. Should it be able to convert GM-midi-files on the fly when playing, to IMAP and the other way round too. That is play GM-files as if they were IMAP files. Does it account for all the other formats also?

I think Toontrack is updating EZ Player Pro over time to support iMap fully. In the case of the Groove Monkee midi files, once Toontrack gets the conversion just right then it probably won't make a difference whether you use one source or the other. However, when I do my proprietary iMap grooves that use the extended iMap articulations then that will NOT be the same from format to format. It will have to be "dumbed down" for GM (iMap is more expressive and capable of realism than just GM). That can still be done but... there will be a wider difference than these which are just "translated" into the iMap format for convenience.
We'll look into the "strangeness" and see what's up. Maybe we did it TOO fast!
Something might have gotten messed up. We'll fix it if that's the case.

Squids,I don't think the problem is on your end,in fact I don't even have the free midi in my user area yet so I can't even comment on that.My apologies for any confusion if you thought I meant your midi was off. What I was referring to is EZP Pro is doing the conversion to IMAP wrong regardless of the source material. If you use TT's wrapper to IMAP (using EZP Pro V.1.0.4) it comes out 1 octave lower and needs transposed.I already submitted a support ticket to them but have received no response yet.I suppose I coulda worded my last post better but I only meant to confirm that TT's IMAP conversion isn't functioning properly.

When will these free midi files be available? I just got the EZPlayer Pro and checked my esoundz user area but the free midi files don't seem to be there. Perhaps they are not ready yet?
