Power Chords-Antiquated Term or Still Relevant

Power chords will always be around, as long as people play chords on a heavily distorted guitar. Really, your chord options are limited. Even a simple min7 chord played on a guitar with full distortion sounds like white noise.

..Of course you can have beautiful maj7 chords having one guitarist playing the root and 5th, while the other guitarist plays the 7th and the 3rd an octave above (interval of 4th, hence a power chord also). That opens a whole new world of possibilities.
