I've tested both the current hi hats and beta of the enhanced ones and they both work fine - the new one being better of course. I got a chance to see a real-world test with John Blackwell when we did the V-Drum midi session. It went well! So that was a good sign.Quote from Relayer No offense intended, but you guys with HH problems need to speak for yourselves. My hats work just fine. I use the same settings that I use for Addictive Drums and I have no problems whatsoever. I would consider the HH performance excellent as a matter of fact.
I'm sorry you're having problems, but please don't assume everyone is having the same issues as you.

The tricky part about this is that there are a number of factors that can be involved in judging this and here is what they are:
1. People understandably want more variation of closed to open and the CC4 message can help to make that happen if the software responds to it. That is what we're doing with this update in terms of switching from closed to medium open to open samples as well as adjustment of release times (the decay of the hat) so you have both!
2. The result of how the hats sound and function CAN also depend on the samples which are different from hi hat to hi hat in the collection... you gotta remember they weren't sampled with this in mind so the results can vary. Luckily the PRICE is amazing... ie.Ken Scott Collection or Neil Peart Drums which cost more have a TON more samples (up to 10 times the size of each kit) and they'll perform more advanced on every kit piece because of it... but you can't get 25 or more of those kits for under a hundred bucks either. In any case, the good part is that, with this being subjective, you can decide which hi hats you DO like from the collection and swap them out... there's so many that there are bound to be some you like!
3. This is a big one... it COULD also be each person's set up being slightly different. Now, I know many of you like the hi hat performance of S2 so that is a good thing for us to compare to (we can compare to all of them... BFD, AD etc.) and see if it has to do with the sound of their samples which probably were intended for that purpose/feature in the first place OR if it has more to do with the way it responds and what it does with respect to hi hat borders (especially for kits that don't let you set the border) or with the CC4 control or the curve of the velocity... all of this can and probably ARE different per hi hat controller/kit/model/brand. But, if something like S2 magically does work with all of them out of the box then there there must be something to that - a common setting that works with all or something... I don't know but we'll look into it and see.
There are a lot of factors and at a certain point we can find ourselves chasing our own tail! The forum in particular can also be a factor because people read what others are saying and may even assume there's an issue for them when maybe there isn't... that TOO! But, the positive aspect of community is that we can all help each other get where we want to be with these sounds. Yes it STARTS with the value of these sounds and arrives at them being playable and usable for the needs of everyone - regardless of which hardware kit you play them from... as long as you do understand that the kit controller itself has limitations too... and understanding the above which I don't expect EVERYONE to understand but for those that take a moment to really think about all that I am saying I think there's a balance to be struck here. Something that makes sense given the price, given the effort, given the variety of samples, the sum of which = a great buy.
