It's hard to call it a ROMpler, even though it can behave like one out of the box. Nevertheless, it's entire sample bank can be overwritten. This is actually one of the things that appealed to me about the thing. I almost never use factory samples and never use factory presets, so its ROMpler abilities didn't float my boat at all. However, as a pure sampler and synth, it was pretty damned cool. I sold my GT last year (and the rackmount XT before that) and haven't decided if I regret it or not (I needed the space, and could do all of what it does in Kyma). It was great fun to play and very easy to create some crazy sample-based mayhem on the thing. There really isn't another dedicated hardware synth like it.

Thanks for trying to educate me guys, it's starting to make sense. I probably don't have much use for one, but I will download the manual and take a look.

I finally took off some dust of the gt and installed it in the living with just an electribe mx on top of it. Using the electribe as an osc input and fooling with the FX, keys, beam, TT, ... is pretty interesting, really enhances it's sound which is another "synth" I wasn't too happy with the output.

If Roland fixes the midi clock bugs I may even start to say nice things about it

Now when I try to record what I'm playing (oversampling) the input level (and the recording) is pretty low. How can I adjust that ?

Edit: I mean off course resampling and just found the Pre-Gain knob, now it should rock

i had the keyboard but i exchanged it for rack xt...
okay it was a mistake:(

what i don t understand why they don t target that marketing more into the hip hop marked...?okay for the v-synth

it is a great sampler/manipulator and also an effect and a fully synthesizer..

they could had created an urban soundbank for it...

or is the v-synth to komplex for a simple hiphop mind?
(like the mpc4000 for example)

4 me it ' s one of the greates VA on the market...

maybe they reycle the technology for the next mv...

This would have saved a lot of money for me. Besides this the Blofeld has the PPG filter model which is really awesome IMO.

No it's channel AT (still better than none at all)

On the other hand you have many other performance expression options - 2 D-Beams, the TimeTrip Pad, ports for 3 pedals (2 expression, 1 sustain)

No but I have read that the synth engine will respond to poly-aftertouch. I've never tried it, so I don't know for sure.

Totally agree. I like the unit but these are 10+ years old now if I am not mistaken. Not sure the price is quite justified. I like the XT rack version and would love to see a as is and improved keyboard version.

If I recall and I don't remember the specifics, wasn't there a loss of features of functionality when the v-synth GT was launched replacing the v-synth?

I'm very tempted to sell it with a bid starting at 1 €, who knows

LOL, no need to kill anyone, for you I'll make it free if you come over to get it (switzerland) and don't ask me to put these hugly gray handles back on ( took me an afternoon to take them off).

As I don't have anymore the original box it would be a bit of work for me to send it (which I don't really need, but I could make an effort).
Are you in the uk ?, not sure how much it would cost sending it over there, plus you would probably have to pay custom, even if it's a gift.
Not sure it's worth it, let you figure out / decide.

Edit: shipping in the uk would be about 130 $ (6-10 days), probably 50-100 $ for a good box ( guessing), for import duties, I have no idea. I don't have the bill anymore, but I could probably get a copy from the store.
