Omg, you read my mind!Urs wrote:And to be honest, ACE doesn't belong on the list because it doesn't have Supersaw, right?Architeuthis wrote:I wouldn't mention Reaktor, ACE, KarmaFX, or any modular synth. They have a very traditional interface and traditional way of thinking. That's why they don't belong on this list.
Edit: Of course you can make a Reaktor ensemble that is unique... whatever!
This thread is sweet.

Wave terrain synthesis? Not properly at least.tomg wrote:If unique really means unique and you're not excluding hardware, I can't think of anything that hasn't already been done.

I was just about to mention Krishna, but Frank has beat me to it. However, Sakura is not unique at all ( String Studio VS1, hint, hint).

From what I've heard, use or demo'd I think
Ace - own it
Unique(no joke - don't own it though)
Alchemy - own it
Oddity, this is a new one to me and it makes some bezerk random sounds when you don't know what the f**k you're doing with it, like me!
Subboombass - because it's SO bassy and yes I own it!
These synths stand out to me from the crowd as well as Op-X Pro II does but I can hardly call it a unique synth!

Can a unique implementation of a tried and true synthesis method result in a unique synth? I think so but it seems that some disagree. Why is that?
Like Minimonsta and Symptohm... they use synthesis methods that aren't unique but I have always though of them as very innovative and unique because of their modulation sections, melohman morphing and (in the case of symptohm) the filter section.

Sakura sure looks prettier, but it's merely the emperor wearing a pink-chiffon gown.himalaya wrote:I was just about to mention Krishna, but Frank has beat me to it. However, Sakura is not unique at all ( String Studio VS1, hint, hint).

I don't know, I think Sakura's unique in the amount of control it gives to the user.dhalfen wrote:Sakura sure looks prettier, but it's merely the emperor wearing a pink-chiffon gown.himalaya wrote:I was just about to mention Krishna, but Frank has beat me to it.
