Happy Frog wrote:Thanks Xaphoid I cannot believe I did not thank to do this. I will sample the one hit, and EQ it, that is ok with the rules, I hope.
I hope so too cuz there is not other way to stabilize it.

Yes files can be changed all the way up to voting start.

@Happy Frog: Just remember no processing after sampling, not even EQ..

Happy Frog wrote:I am trying to do Bass Kick and I find the sound "drifts" a lot; it seems LFO related however, I am not sure how to stop this. I would like the sound static. On other synths I know how to easily stop the LFO "drift", on this one I am not sure. If anyone understands what I am trying to say please educate me, thanks.
I actually used a comp and a limiter and squashed it pretty good. there was still quite a bit of variation, which I actually quite liked, made it feel a bit more human I thought.

I am trying to do Bass Kick and I find the sound "drifts" a lot
I noticed this when creating my kick sound as well. My impression was that it was caused by multiple sine waves phase cancelling each other. I found that the problem went away when I used only a single sine oscillator in "single" mode. Adding a second sine oscillator or entering dual or superwave mode made it return.

wow! I never thought of that! I may go back to the drawing board again and try to make another kick once again.

Uploading my entry: Makkverk 2000. Genre: Danceish.

8x superwave p8
a similar amount of logic daw EQ, and my own Millennium Limiter "tweakbeta".

Cheers

fo far I seem to be winning the "naming protocol" portion of the comp...

Archon1024, That is a nice tip about the single sine wave. I do not however want to go back to the drawing board, I can not believe how much time I spent trying to get a thick bass kick.

The cool thing about all of this, is I am really pushing this vst, I normally produce Trance music, and never did much designing with this one, because I like the presets, so I just tweaked the filters. This is a very intuitive vst, and would benefit from some different sound sets. And on some levels I like the "drift", just not when I really need static sounds.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's submissions.

Yes thx for the tip, I too have trouble with the kick and didn't think about phase issues between the oscillators.

Cheers for the submission. Was just going through my limiters the other day and saw yours there, works well, nice job with that. So this is a newer one I take it?

He yea, I don't think there's ever been a case where all entries have been correctly named.. 8)

This is an internal version I released to comply with the rules. If you are a logic user, you can go into the control screen, or the equivalent in your host (where you'd go to see hidden parameters, maybe), and tweak the internal filter of the limiter. Too much fiddling for most, so I'll probably remove that feature in the next version, but it's there for obscure joy, for the moment.

Btw, this was my setting for the track, which also seemed to be an optimal filter.

tgcut is the internal filters cutoff, tgslp the slope, (a finetuning on a ca. value only), and tgofs, the truncation of the beginning of this TIIR.

Au contraire, my first impression with your limiter was that it had maybe too few controls.. ;)

I tried your new one and was able to bring up the hidden controls in Reaper by disabling the UI which will show native controls. Have copied your setting and trying them out now, but overloading the track I'm on but will try some more. Maybe I'll use it on the track. Getting a funny general graphic freeze (meters etc) when adjusting controls with the GUI on, but not off, what could it be?

Post

I have no idea. Should be standard VSTGUI stuff that's happening, so it's out of my control.

looks like I beat ya!
Yep, you sure did ... and you're not the only one :)

My track has been all but complete since about the end of January, but then things got a bit hectic with 'Aberdeen Voice' ... our fab local news zine ... so I'll just take my time now I reckon :)

I've just added my One Synth entry, War of the Plushies.

Just a slight mistake in the mp3 tagging, but nothing needing correction. Still not bad for a first timer considering naming and tagging faults is still done even by regulars.. :smack: :D
